Problems with DQ

Hi, i've currently completed 2 dragon quests namely lvl 41 and lvl 20 and done everything listed to complete. But when I go to the Dragon Quest Director to collect the reward it keeps saying "Mission already taken, unable to complete" and yet there are no other duplicates of this quest. There is a yellow flag on the NPC's head but still cannot complete. The message is also listed as red in the quest inventory. I would prefer not to trash it as i have spent alot of money to complete it and it would be a waste.
Possibly it could be a bug? but i'm not sure could someone plz help if they have had this problem or know how to fix it. Thxs

    Check your Questlog by pressing "Q" do you have any empty quests? If so please trash them and you should be able to hand in the quest.

    Thxs for help, didn't realize there were blank quests
