OK I have a Veno I play now and again.
Please explain someone why would I and what are the advantages or good points about playing in foxform as a melee player ?
I use fox form to run faster to and from quests but personally dont spend any spirit in taking or upgrading melee skills.
Tell me why Im wrong please ?

Hi, I'm a venomancer. Although I used to play my Barbarian persona I started the veno a few months ago.

In reality, there isn't much point in fighting in fox form. Venos are generally weak and don't have much health so don't bother much with melee. Plus, in regular form you can cast many spells. The only good thing about fox form is the faster running and the slightly increased defence. I'd suggest to just use your pet as the tank and cast spells on the side.

So, your not wrong. Don't bother with fox form much.

Yes same as me I dont see the point except to run.
Makes you wonder why they bother to give all those skills I have not bothered to use them.
The reason for this post is to see if I was missing something !

You do not run faster in fox form. It's the barbarians who run faster in tiger form. It may look like you're running faster, but that's an illusion caused by being closer to the ground.

Fox form gives you higher p.def and accuracy at the cost of lower max mana. It also gives you access to the fox form skills (but you can't cast your mage spells), which comprise almost half the werefox's arsenal. The skills tend to be more debuff oriented, rather than the mage form's direct damage. So it's something unique a WF can add to a party (if you just do DD in mage form, you're mostly duplicating the job of wizards and archers).

The added p.def, accuracy, and (via another skill) increased melee damage means you can be a semi-decent melee'er in fox form. But most WFs just use the added p.def for escape or running. I think part of the problem is that the first fox form skill you get is pretty lousy, while the first mage form skill you get will be one of your most-used spells. So most folks don't experiment much with fox form. There are heavy armor and heavy/arcane hybrid builds floating around which rely on fox form.

I am purely fox form veno. I have not leveled my mage type skills at all. I wear heavy armor and am hitting 2k p.def in my 20s. Before 20 the damage in fox form is really low. But if you can stick with it, it jumps up a lot at 20 when you can use fb19 weapon and get your first melee mastery skill.

I have 2 venos, both are level 28, one is pure caster, the other is pure fox. I do not notice much difference in kill speed to be honest. The main difference is that the fox one can take way more abuse before dieing.

jd50510 do you use your pet as well and support it with melle ?
How effective is your pet healing or does your extra melee assistance make up for it.
I must admit it is an interesting build !

I got a venom lvl 20 and I use both the mage form and the fox form. I got str 30 by now and Magic 51 or sth like that and when I'm in fox form and I use the first spell I cause around 350-400 damage... around the same I cause with my spells.

You should have gotten an automatic quest at lvl 7 to learn how to tame. You may want to go to the pet trainer in lost city and look on the "Quest Related" link. As far as fox form, if you went through your Cultivation and I assume that you did being lvl 13, if you go to one of the venomancer trainers in town, the closest one to you is probably the one in broken bridge village. Click on the venomancer skills link and it should show that you can buy foxform skill.
