Heavy armor build question

So I am leveling a Heavy armor Veno now. I am lvl 27 now but am having a hard time keeping stats for both armor and weapons. So I had the idea of getting a nice 3 star weapon somewhere between mid 30s and 50 level requirement. Once I got that weapon I would just upgrade it a bunch with mirage stones. I dont know anything about upgrading though. If I did do this and upgraded the weapon, would the level or stat requirements change?
The reason I ask is that if I can just get a really nice weapon and upgrade it a lot, then I would only have to pump my mag stat up to that point and leave it. Then I could focus on str/dex from then on. If upgrading changes the requirements to use the weapon then obviously this wont work.
So does this idea sound plausible, or is it a dumb noob idea and would never work? I am hoping someone can give me info about upgrading weapons as well as how well this idea will work.
Thanks in advance.

You know, that's is an interesting question. I'm doing the same build actually. (and I'm even the same level as you, lol) I was going to max my MAG to 180 to uses the HH60 weapon. Of course, my character level will be level 91 before I could even touch it tho. So it didn't make any point to go past that because I wouldn't be able to use any higher weapon then that unless I reached level 106 to use the HH70 weapon with 210 MAG. And level 106 seems just a little far fetched.
So I was wondering if the HH weapons could also be upgraded with mirage stones?
Also, is there a guide or anything on upgrading? I can't seem to find detailed forum on refining.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
well, if the HH60 weapon is anything like the fb19 weapon, no you cant upgrade it. I dont know if it is though. I thought about upgrading the fb19 and then realized it was a quest item and couldnt be refined.
You are a lot more ambitious than I am though lol. I am having a hard time convincing myself to go with a weapon in the 40s instead of one in the 30s lol. I was thinking of going w/a nice 3 star darhma sword (spelling?). Once I get to that level I may start considering going with something higher though.
I just think I would prefer wearing armor my level instead of a weapon my level. I have a healbot cleric on a 2nd account I run on my laptop for heals/buffs though, so it may be better to go with proper weapon and lower armor. Faster damage = faster kills = faster xp for both chars. Hmm... now I have created another dilemma for myself.0 -
I use ONLY fox form with my build and my scorpion has Bash and Flesh Ream now so we are killing things with no problem and pretty quick too. I love watching red numbers climb the screen with no sign of slowing, lol. Anyways, if you are having a cleric follow you, then you shouldn't have no problems at all.
Also, myself, I am thinking of this build more as a TANK build then a DD build. What gives me the ambition is that I keep thinking about a post I read a while back. It said something like "Have you ever seen a barb do a 30k damage critical on a veno using bramble hood and kill itself in 1 hit?"
I know that odds of that happening may be rare, but even so, the thought is still there![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
of course u can upgrade HH weapons, and the 3 stars ones too, and u need 2 mirage stones for 1 upgrade,
also try to use human form, i haven't tried that build yet, but i don't think the mag attack is that low since u have a good weaponIGN: JusT_CooL

Ok the idea of upgrading it really isnt plausable as you'd need many pluses just to be the same as the weapon 10 levels higher. Now if you dont know, beyond +1, the success rate falls dramatically and failure means you can lose all the +s on it so far back to 0. You need dragon orbs to guarentee success rate on that, a 2 star at 200G will guarentee the +2, a 3 star dragon orb at 500k will guarentee the +3, and up from there, so you can imagine the growing expense.
For Heavy Armor build, you can never wear the current tier armor & have current tier weapon. The requirements on your stats are too much. While people do Heavy armor, Veno Fox form was designed with Light Armor in mind (and then a fox form physical defense boost onto it), and even then, you need to keep a VERY strict 1 STR, 1 DEX, & 3 MAG per level build (nothing in vit at all, reset-note if you did, cant afford any points). For Heavy Armor, if if keep to a 1.667 (yeah weird number, but for every 3 levels, you put 5 points) in STR, 0.333 (every 3 levels, 1 point spent) in DEX, and 3 points per level in Magic, you can wear your current weapon (which you'll want especially 60+ for TT weapons) and Heavy armor about 2 tiers lower (tier 6 during your 60s, etc). If you want the Armor to be current you need 2.5 STR, 0.5 DEX, and 2 MAG per level, but with that option your weapon choice will lag and i think come level 60 when you only have 124 points in Magic and that TT60 weapon needs 180 you'll be a sad panda, er fox.0 -

Using human form isnt really an option for me. Even if my damage wasnt pathetic, I havent spent the spirit on those skills, I still have lvl 1 venomous scarab.
As far as it being expensive, if I am not buying a new weapon all the time I figured that might help offset the costs. I guess I will just stick with a good weapon and lower lvl armor though. Hell Its still not too late to wear light, I might try that out.
Just to clarify though, no one has answered the question about if the level or requirements increase when you refine the weapons. Does it or does it not? Thanks again.0 -
They don't increase. Only damage will increase while requirements stay the same.
Also... it is very possible to wear both current tier heavy armor and current tier weapon. This isn't going to be possible until the upper levels (Level 90 maybe), as you will need a LOT of stat whoring items (Level 86 waist adorn quest reward from Ghost realm will add 5-6 points into str/agi/int, tt80 heavy wrists will add 5-7 into agi/str/con, level 89 soulsuppressor will add 10-11 to agi/con/int).
Seeing as how you need 267 int to wield a soulsuppressor, 227 str and 49 agi to use level 90 tt heavy armor, that's 262+222+44(removing 5 base points from each category) = 528 stat points needed. As you gain 5x stat point per level, that's (Level-1)*5 stat points you'll have. 89 * 5 = 445 points.
The stat boosting items that I consider a must-get will net you 45-53 stat points. This will push your available stat points to 490-498, leaving 30-38 stat points left to push for. Since Belial seems to have been nerfed in this version, the tt90 cape is very farmable, which adds +9 to str/agi/int. This is another 27 points, leaving only 3-11 points required. You can restat con to the base stat of 3 rather than 5, leaving only 1-9 points required. Grab a Bijou necklace (level 87 gold, +5% hp (which will help your low con problem), +7-8 str). If you were unlucky enough to get minimum stats on all the items I listed above, you're 2 points away from the build. You can recraft your tt80 gauntlets for those 2 points, or get rings/helmet with +2 agi/str/int. Either way, it's very unlikely you'll have gotten minimum. And you're all set. You now have enough stat points at level 90 to use both tt90 heavy armor and a tt90 magic weapon. Your rings/helmet can be focused on hp bonuses if you're concerned about your low vit.
However.. keep in mind that this armor set will be VERY expensive. Nearly every class will want a Bijou for the +5% hp bonus, as the tt necklaces that have +5% are gold and even more expensive than a Bijou. The cape which requires two gold mats from Belial (Last boss of 2-3) is very expensive to buy and hard to farm, but apparently doable in this server. Everything else will be pretty easy to grab from quests/tt farming.
Edit: For anyone interested:
Con = Vit
Int = Mag
Agi = Dex[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Well, if you want to wear the best armor of your level, you could always take up blacksmithing and make your weapons, only keeping 2 star weapons. 2 star weapons are between 2 and 1.5 times as powerful as their standard versions.If the best defense is a good offense, why did I even show up?
If a train is going east at 50 mph and another train is going west at 90 mph, where do they...Never gonna give you up~ Never gonna let you down~Never gonna run around~and hurt you~
If you've got this far, you've been rick-rolled.0 -
They won't compare to TT weapons though, which you'll need the min stats for.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

senovit - what would your base stats look like then b4 you equip anything with +stats?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Seems I made a mistake in the earlier post. I counted the 10 mag from the Soulsuppressor when I shouldn't have since the mag bonus on it won't help you with the weapon's own mag requirement. Anyway...
STR DEX MAG VIT Stats you need at 90: 227 49 267 3 Minimum Stats: Bijou -7str 220 49 267 3 TT Gold Cape -9str/dex/mag 211 40 258 3 Ghostrealm Waist -5str/dex/mag 206 35 253 3 SoulSuppressor -10agi 206 25 253 3 tt80 wrists -5agi/str 201 20 248 3 Base Stats at 90: 201 20 248 3 Stats needed to be added: 196 15 243 0 Total Stats to be added: 454 Total Stats available at level 90: 445 Remaining Stats to be added: 9
These 9 points should be divided among Ring Slot 1, Ring Slot 2, and Helmet.
However, again, these 9 points are ONLY if all the items you got have minimum bonuses - something not very likely. Maximum bonuses would add 12 points to this, leaving you 3 free points, not even having equipped rings or a helmet yet. So basically, if you get lucky, this equipment will be all you need. If you get unlucky, you'll need to cover 9 points of bonuses with rings/helmet. If you're somewhere in between, adjust accordingly =p
So.. in response to your question: Your base stats at 90 should be 192-201 Str, 11-20 Dex, 234-243 Mag, and 3 Vit. The reason there's a 9 point difference is because if you get all minimum bonuses on all of your equipment, you can add or subtract from Str, Dex, or Mag depending on what bonuses your rings/helmet have.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
