Hope to Clear the Air

Hello to all. First I want to say thanks to everyone lately on all your posting about how one should create a Cleric. Even though sometimes agressive I have not this much reading on forums in a long time. b:pleased

Now I want to hopefully clear the air for all the people who keep asking, "How should I make my Cleric?" Now I will point out that I am not a experienced player like most but I will try to give a fairly middle ground opinion on the matter.

IF you the questioner are wondering how to build your Clerics please remember that you are free to follow any type that Stickies or players may advise but you need to keep in mind that NOT all characters are good for all situations. I have to state that if you are planning on being a hardcore PVP (emphasis on Hardcore) player you may want to stay with what the Cleric is designed for. For example, I would not choose to be a 2 sword wielding Cleric if I was going to want to be a PVP player. Of course you can become most likely a kick*** FAC BUT BUT I choose to agree with Deadbone and Pandora that if you are hoping to be part of the Elite you will want to stick what Clerics do best.

Feel free to go with the FAC style of Clerics and I am sure you will enjoy the game nonetheless and probably will notice that you are going to have an imense amount. You have the right to choose what type of player you can design but realize that that Character were designed a special way and to become Elite you will mostly likely want to build the way they were meant to be.

Hope this may clear the water. I may add more later but lots here to read.

The problem being how do you define "Elite"? This is no more clearing the air than any of the other FAC bashing. It's just more polite. Boiled down you are saying "do what you want but you won't be "Elite" ( one assumes "good" ) unless you do what we say."

So kudo's for the peaceful intent but realize what you say here isn't really any different.

Just incase there are more confused on how I was explaining myself I will give another example. I send thanks also for the Kudos as I am trying to stay polite.

The term "Elite" does not just represent something as being "good". Someone or something "Elite" is represented as possibly the best of quality. The following is a simple example as how I see an "Elite" individual.

You have Infintry and you have US Military Rangers. Both soldiers but one much more deadly and knowlegable in what they are meant for. Perhaps this shows the difference between a good player and a Elite player. Hope this does not get over analysed because I think there is a clear difference between good and Elite.

You are missing my point. I respect your opinion but that is all it is...an opinion. By saying an FAC Cleric cannot be "Elite" you are downgrading them to "less than" whatever "Elite" is.

Do you see the distinction? It still comes across as an insult. "You may be good but you'll never be the BEST".

Anywho...I'll stick with the FAC and see where it goes.

What kills me, Willfire, is that you claim everyone else is flaming FACs but at the end of the day, it's you flaming everyone else.

All this guy is saying is that FACs bring nothing to the table for organized teams - and he's absolutely right. You do not compare to a real cleric, nor do you compare to a real DD.

Were not made to be a real cleric. Were chose this path because we do not want to be party reliant and we want to work our way up with solo grinding.

People's expectations will change eventually until other MMO's make FAC's, until then yeah we will be "downgraded" but that doesn't mean we cant hold our own. The right strategies will win in any situation (regardless of level).

And if anyone is having problems with getting kicked from a guild for not being what the majority of Clerics are (emphasis majority because there is plenty of them to fill in for FAC during a TW)

They can either:

1) Make an FAC supported guild
2) Join a small-stream guild

Prove it. You can't. I've defended the build as it's a good one. It's not what you like but that isn't the measure of a build. The universe does not revolve around Pandora ( or WillFire for that matter ).

Which is incorrect. As I've said before the FAC is versitile. He/she can heal or nuke well. At higher levels, depending on what you like, the FAC isn't much different from the FSC. It's all taste. You just got your knickers in a wad and are too prideful to back down when confronted with common sense.

Who wants to compare? FAC is different from both and that's part of the charm of the build. I can keep you alive all alone when you fight a boss. I can switch and hit that boss ( nuke ) harder than 90% of the builds out there.

Sorry Pandora but your kneejerk hatred of the class doesn't wash. You are missing out on a very good tool for your guild. Your loss.

It surely, no one says that, you don't know your role or class, just be patient for FA clerics. If its only private for LC peoples, please make post there, and dont bother the general clerics forum.

In other words all you were trying to say against FACs is that they are too much of a Generalist (jack of all trades) to be effective in the high level PvP/TW which requires Specialists (elites of a particular trade) that you are aiming for.

So to you a FAC is only an expendable grunt that just takes up space, and you would rather have that Ranger/Marine/Navy Seal Cleric character then that standard infantryman equipped with a few more medpacks then your average grunt.

As for why bother? Maybe I'm the sort that likes to actually explore a game and what a class is capable of. Maybe cookie cutter builds bore the snot out of me since I've been playing these type of games for ~8 years. Maybe it's because I enjoy being able to bring more than just one thing to the table for a group.

For certain I've no real beef with you. If anyone should make you ill it's the "Elite" folks who can't seem to see past thier own egos.

At mid 80's, the only difference between a FAC and a regular support cleric is their stat build. Grab some reset notes and change from all vit to all magic and you have a FAC.
