Map not displaying correctly

I play the game is 1360x768 resolution. I noticed that when I use this mode, my map does not display correctly. I notice that anytime I play in a widescreen mode, the map is cut off at the top and bottom. If I set the Display to 1024x768 I get the full map, but if I use any widescreen mode, it will cut off the top and bottom of the map.

Here are some srceenshot images. This is how I see the map.

If I use 1360x768 Widescreen mode This is how I see the map.

If I use 1024x768 Fullscreen Mode I see the map like this (The correct way)

Is there anyway to correct this ?

This seems to be more of a technical problem instead of a ingame bug so moved this to it's own thread. Have you tried updating your drivers?

I have updated drivers. I use a nVidia 8800GTX. My resolution is 1360x768. I have checked widescreen mode (Even though both checked or unchecked are the same).

(I just used a Worldchat and asked if anyone else had this issue that run in 1360x768. I got Many replies that yes they do, and not only that but other widescreen resolutions all have this issue. This is not an issue on my end (I am certain of that now by the amount of tells I got)

Please, this is an issue that needs to be corrected.

    Thank you

Seems to be a reliably replicated issue with anything in Widescreen mode or certain resolution settings. Unchecking widescreen mode from the in-game menu (System -> System Settings) and 16:9 mode from the Launcher seems to correct it in either full screen or windowed mode for some resolution settings, but not the one corresponding to your computer's default display.

<strike>I'll see if I can come up with a decent fix.</strike> Seem to be directly related to how the map file is change for different resolution settings. Running in windowed mode at a different resolution is the only reasonable immediate fix I can offer.

Thank you. Yes I can run in window mode and it works. I do hope eventually they come up with a permanent fix for us widescreen users. I enjoy running in widescreen in Full mode rather than window mode. I am happy someone is aware of this and hoopefully they can come up with something in the near future.

Sorry to bump my own post, but has anything been accomplished towards the resolution of this issue? I was thinking maybe to supply a fixed Map file that Widescreen users could replace the current one with.

If that is not possible, maybe have 2 map files to use. 1 for widescreen and 1 for normal, and whichever mode you are in, thats the map it will use. (This would be best fix)

Anything for now would be appreciated. Maybe a widescreen map patch file for Widescreen users that would simply give us a new map graphic file that will work in widescreen.

If this cannot be done, Ill try doing it myself and if I do, Ill post the results here. I think the hardest part of doing this is going to be keeping the teleport points in the correct positions with the Updated map resoulation.

Thanks, if they are really looking into this issue, please let me know. Bullcrap is best left unsaid. If the issue isnt that serious to you, then just dont answer at all. b:chuckle

Otherwise Ill try to find a solution myself.

(Update) cureently trying myself to find a solution to resizing the map. It seems the world_targets file will allow me to correctly change the waypoints to the appropriate locations once the map is resized.

I would strongly suggest against altering world_targets.txt. It does control where teleport master destinations look like on the world map, and that can make it a dangerous file to edit, potentially making it impossible to click on a specific destination.

I've sent the issue in through Support Ticketing, and I invite you to do so as well if it'd make you feel more comfortable. This makes the issue very known to the powers that be.

It doesn't look like an issue I can change, or that any other user can change without violating the terms of service. That's the only thing I can really know at this time.

Was there ever a fix found for this? This bug still exists 3 months later and made playing as a human near impossible during starter quests as the top half of the map is all gone.

This bug has not yet been fixed. Your best option is to run the game in a 4:3 resolution, which may mean running it in windowed mode.

That's kind of a terrible solution. I bought a 37" monitor and sort of do not want to run in a little box on a monitor that I bought specifically for gaming.

I don't think he's implying that you will have to play on 4:3 for the rest of your PWI days.
Also 4:3 doesn't mean it's a little window, it's just a bit smaller than your 16:9 (if that's what your monitor is).

It's a lot smaller. The bug has been in for 3 months now.

    I have the same issues.

Additionally, in 16:9 Widescreen mode the Autopathing feature does not work, but when I switch to non-16:9 - which will display the game in 16:10 on my screen - autopathing works.

But maps are still clipped (not only the worldmap, maps inside dungeons also) with a resolution of 1920x1200 or 1680x1050 (a friend of mine uses this because it fits her monitor).

And there are some other strange effects with the maps - e.g. you have to click "about one centimeter below" the desired location to zoom into the "small" map to get the belonging area in the detailed map.

I would really appreciate if PWI could ask the chinese developers to test widescreen support a bit more, because playing this game in widescreen is really amazing and I enjoy it.
    b:thanks

I have this same issue, but it occurs both on 1680x1050 as well as the corresponding 4:3 resolution. Nowadays I'm used to playing on 4:3 cause I can now put my IRC window on the left corner behind the game window so I see if there's any activity and can switch when there is. :P

I'm rambling again, just meant to say that for me this issue happens even without the widescreen mode.

EDIT: Tarck: Might be a Linux issue too. Does your friend play on Linux system?
