Disappointing Lag

Is it just me or is lag getting worse ?
It is getting harder and harder to fight because the animations are so far behind the actual damage being done and if I use a potion it takes too long to work because of lag.
This is really ruining the game for me to the point of I think it is time to leave.
Great game but I think the servers are becoming too over crowded.

Does anyone else have this problem ?

    1) Check u PC for unwanted programs(use antivirus).
    2) How many processes runing at same time and using internet(close unnecessary programms, like e-mule, icq, etc...).
    3) Turn off heavy graphics(look above and right of u char portrait for 'best perfomans' button, looks like "(<<>>)").
From in game 'option menu' u can turn specific graphics on/off(grass, textures etc...).
    4) If it not helps, then IDK(sorry, i'm not a lag-expert).

    P.S. sorry for possible mistakes.

    Done all that.
I guess it is just increased traffic as the game becomes more popular but I hope something can be done because the game is becoming harder to play and I think a lot of players will leave over time.

I am on Sanctuary and noticed it only when I got to Auchasaur....even outside the town.
    Might try a different server.

Im not complaining about the lag but since Im playing on my laptop it lags like a ****...but depending on what machine your on your gonna lag no matter what...Now if I were to play this on my desktop which I have an XPS 420, which is about a year old, I wouldn't get any lag what so ever even if the server is full I'll never lag...but Im not playing on my desktop since I already have like 5 mmos on it.

Its actually funny whenever I play on my desktop and people complain about lag Im like what lag LOL

Im not sure if this affects everyone but if your on an old machine but meet game specs your going to lag...If you have a newer machine and your specs are wayyyy above game requirments then you shouldnt be complaining...also connection speed always plays a factor on different machines....but don't ask me I wouldn't know these things LOL XD

did you try setting your distances on low? that helped me, of course arch is one place that will always lag, i havnt really noticed a high increase, but from time to time i have, but i think as the game grows and more land is avaliable, once people start getting more spread out, and more servers open and all this, it wont get too bad, if you compare the lag on here to some other games this games soooo much smoother, for me the lag is a graphics thing, if too many people are grouped real close together ( like pretty much through eachother ) thats when it starts to lag for me

I agree with Mosz. There is a differenece between graphical lag and internet lag. Graphical type lag occurs when there is too much stuff on the screen at once like in a big city like West Archosaur where there are a million Cat Shops around. Everything starts moving really slow or seems jumpy. The crappier the video card and/or computer you have, the more of this type of lag you are going to have. I have a pretty fast computer and a good video card and I still experience some graphical lag while in west Archosaur with all the cat shops but it is still playable. This is one of the first games I've seen that have included a toggle button to help with this. Someone posted this already but there is a small button above your health bar that looks like arrows pointing left and right. That toggles your graphics settings from what you normally play at to a low setting to help when you are in the big cities and experiencing this type of lag. You can just click this on and off. As posted in previous posts, having too many things running on your computer at once, not checking for spyware/viruses regularly and not having your graphics set at something your video card can handle will slow not only your game down but your computer in general. Improving the specs of your computer in general can help with this.

You can tell if you are having internet lag in the game if you are in an area where no one is around, normally the game is running good with no slow downs and suddenly your character doesn't do what you tell him to do right away. You click to attack a mob and 3 seconds later he starts attacking. Or all of a sudden it looks like things are teleporting all over the place. Everyone including the mobs stops moving and then suddenly a few seconds later, they are all in different places. Sometimes you type something in the chat box and it takes a few seconds for it to show up on the screen. This is not always the fault of the game either. Your connection can be the problem as well. If you ask around and others don't seem to be lagging but you are, it could be a problem with your connection somewhere down the line. Connections make a series of hops on its way from your computer to the games server. If one of those hops is having a problems, it can affect your games performance. There are programs like Ping Plotter (free version) that you can use to find out if there is a problem like this if this continues to be a problem. And of course having a good connection like DSL or Cable will work waaaay better than Dialup which I've heard that some people still use to play this game.

That's a general difference of the different types of lag. I hope I explained it good enough. If anyone else can explain better, please post. I'm on Heaven's Tear and I rarely experience internet lag myself. Once in a while maybe for a few minutes, but rarely

    Anyways, hope that helps.
