Um I have no idea how to solo and when to do it. I'm a lvl56 cleric. And I'm finding grinding more and more difficult and I realize I'll eventually have to begin solo AOEing eventually. I have found no guides or advice on this topic. Any advice

Solo AOE? You mean Area of Effect party? Zen?
You cant zen alone, you need a full squad, and cant zen until lvl 59 when you get Regeneration Aure (AoE constant healing spell, also called "Blue Bubble").

And if you are hybdrid (meaning that you put many points into vitality) its gonna be hard. I had to re stat at lvll 5x because my damage was so low that took time about 5-6 hits or more to kill a mob. If you cant affordo to re-stat try to use lot of equipment with +magic attack and the best equip you can afford.
For more info read Cayeons Full Attack Cleric, is of very good use for support clerics too.

    Not zhen party, solo AoE.

What this is for clerics, is finding an area with alot of poison mobs, gathering them up, and AoEing them to death. To do so, have a purify of lvl 5, a high lvl Razor Feathers, and either Tempest or Siren's Kiss.

Main way is to have some fast wings, I used base wings with lvl 10 Flight Mastery. Fly by the mobs and use Ironheart Blessing every so often. If you press forward before the spell is finished, you can take off again with max speed and no need to accelerate. Keep going until you have hit the number you want. Now either precast some heals and purify during the initial mass attack, or take the time to move around to gather them in a small area. Do this by either circling around, or jumping over the main group of mobs to drag outliers to them. Once gathered purify and then unleash AoE 1 at a time. In between, get at least 2 IBs and a Purify. That is the reason to get 5 or better purify, it's recharge goes perfectly with that and a Razor Feather.

Max number is determined by how much you can heal with IB, how densely packed they are in that area, and how much max health you have. Use guardian angels the first couple times until you die enough to remember not to go for that last AoE by skipping healing, or over-purify and lose the health gain from less IBs. Orchid Petali were my favorite at village of the lost; there was a one-man army quest for them right in that area.

You can also practice this with Vipents. Not so densly packed and it allows you to get your timing straight.
