Fist Blademaster - Is light armor really okay?

So I've been building following the '2STR 2DEX 1VIT per level then capping VIT at 50 then doing 2STR 3DEX' build. I'm level 23 now and I've been able to use heavy armor up until the last couple levels, now I've noticed I don't meet the STR requirement for heavy armor anymore.

My question is, is it really okay to use Light Armor as a blademaster? I mean I already take high damage as it is with good armor, is light armor going to hurt me later on at higher levels when I can't use Heavy armor or will my high evasion make up for it? Also, is it better to use a lower level heavy armor that has more defense than my current level light armor? For example a level 14 heavy armor with 275 defense vs. a level 23 light armor with 200.

Any input would be appreciated.

P.S. Looking for a Faction on Sanctuary

Most mobs i face as a BM attack with magic.

I currently have Barbarian Legendary Light Armor and i take damage all the same. Your STR should make up for the Physical defense lost against physical damage dealing mobs and if you add a bit of shards then you should be fine. Its only a matter of preference.

    What level are you?

Evasion is kind of useless in PvE, mobs hit you most of the time, regardless of how much evasion you have.

You will be facing physical mobs all the time, so, it might seem good at low levels, but the higher level you get, the more damage the mobs deal on you, and since you're a BM, you will be always be fighting on close combat.

Past 60, all the mobs use 1 magic attack first, then go with Physical attacks all the way, reason why some Fist BM's like to go with Light Armor past that level...but, using Heavy Armor, Golden Bell skill and Marrow Physical, mobs at that level will still be hitting you for 110~120+. So you might want to take that into consideration.

Past level 70, you will face a lot of mobs in groups, so that is also something that could affect you when you use Light Armor.

Also, no Heavy Armor means no AoE grinding, so you will have to stick with fighting mobs one by one or in low groups.

I suggest you to go with Heavy Armor, and since you're Fist user, you will be able to use Light Armor whenever you want if you need it.

So this becomes a stat problem then. Fist seems to rely on Dex quite a bit...how do you stay with the heavy armor? Cap Dex at some point since it's only useful per 20 points ( sorta )?

5 STR, 4 DEX, 1 VIT every two levels. Capping VIT at 50 or so.

    Then 5 STR, 5 DEX.

    Soooo...something like this?

    Level: Str, Dex, Vit

    1: 5, 5, 5
    3: 10, 9, 6
    5: 15, 13, 7
    7: 20, 17, 8
    9: 25, 21, 9
    11: 30, 25, 10
    13: 35, 29, 11
    15: 40, 33, 12
    17: 45, 37, 13
    19: 50, 41, 14

FB 19 weapon here...doubtful if it's claws. What are the requirements?

    21: 55, 45, 15

and you get the idea. You won't hit 50 Vit until level 100...

FB 19 weapon is Poleblade: STR 52, DEX 24.

And yeah, my bad, you keep going with that build forever. Reason why Fist users have the lowest VIT, and why some of them like to use Light Armor to get a little bit more of VIT.

Evasion can help from time to time.
I was fighting a lvl 50 mob, when i was lvl 50 (52 now, and yes I'm a fist BM) and i remember that the mob hit me twice before I killed it. I didn't stun or anything, It just missed THAT much.
    Back.
