Higher Attack

Hi everyone, I was just wondering why BMs get the rep for being able to deal more damage than Barbs. With constant inputs in strength stats and the aura that adds extra phys damage, shouldn't barbs be dealing greater consistent damage, or does the BM's strength lie in its skill tree? And finally, can this greater damage rep be attributed to all diff kinds of BMs (fist, spear, etc)? If so, how would a blade BM go about dishing out this damage? Thanks for the help in advance!

Who told you that BM's deal more damage then a barb? Barbs deal A LOT more damage then a BM but... A barb has to hit it's target first. So look at it in the long run. Say a barb attacks 100 times. The barb only lands 20 hits dealing 1000 damage lets say That's 20k damage. Now, if a BM attacks 100 times, it is likely to hit 80 times. Even if the BM dealt half the damage of a barb at 500 damage each time, the BM just dealt 40k damage.

So, what I think people are trying to say when they say "BM's deal more damage then barbs," is that BM's have a higher DPS or damage per second because of there accuracy.

However, MANY will argue because at later levels the barb has the chance to catch up in dexterity numbers as well as skills that multiply there accuracy rating.

BM's deal more damage because of the skills that not only deal physical attack damage+ add on, they also include a % weapon attack damage added. WB's skills are mostly only physical attack + add on.

This applies to Axe/Spear/Sword, in that order, they deal the most damage.

Yes, Sword actually deals the most damage on single targets due to higher accuracy and very powerful skills. Spear is effective at hitting small groups and if used properly can be effective against medium groups, but it is tricky. Axe deals the most damage due to it's high base damage allowing it to put out high damage through skills. Barb skills simply don't have as much damage capacity, they have few very powerful skills compared to BM who have a range of medium-high powered skills.

But in the end Axe is probably the most powerful build for a BM if you can get some good +Accuracy items or use +Acc potions, attack speed is irrelevant because most attacks are based on skill speed anyway and higher weapon attack will result in stronger skill. I like to think of it as "Barbs hit harder but BM do more damage".

That's exactly what I was trying to say without mentioning skills into the equation.
