Gold and Zen

I can charge Zen and i need gold for item?
Could someone explain me the relation between Gold and Zen?

    well 1 gold is 100 zen

    it tells you when you go to buy it =]

    Zen is the currency before it has been transfered to an individual server. 100 Zen usually costs 1 dollar (United States Dollar), although there are some deals that provide bonus zen with a purchase.

    Once it's transfered to a server, it automatically becomes Gold and Silver. 100 Zen equals 100 Silver, or 1 Gold.
