We all know collecting mats is a pain - especially those that are rare drops. In some ways I actually prefer the mats that drop (as opposed to the mines), because it lets me 'grind with a purpose' - it's like a Quest, only one I give myself.

However, it's a pain having to go out of the game to look up what mob drops it, and try to find where that mob is. And it's no fun when you have to kill 20 mobs to get 1 drop ...

So my suggestion is to add 'Mat Quests' - these would work similiar to Solo Quests in that you can take them over and over again. You'd get it from the Mat merchant, but instead of a choice of which mob to kill, you'd choose which mat you're looking for (broken into sub-menus to avoid excessive options).

You'd then get a quest to kill say 30 of a given mob, and a location to find them. It should be a mob that's close to the same level as you, not too far away - and if possible actually drops what you're looking for. Your reward upon completing the quest would be 5 of the mat you're looking for.

    This is acctually a nice idea, I like it, but 5 mats for 30 mobs wouldnt be fun. maybe 10?

    this is a neat idea =)

    as, really, whenever my character gets to a point where she has no more quests, i just sort of stop, and do crazy stone until she levels.

    i go and level an alt XD

    this would make it worthwhile to grind again! and, keep those ridiculous mats down (yes i'm talking to you, stupid 3.5k for purified oil and rough furs)

    Well, the idea is the quest would be to kill a mob that drops the item ... so you might get 5 through normal drops (while killing those 30), and then an additional 5 as a reward.

    Of course that's not always possible - if you're after a mineable mat like Pig Iron for example ... or there just isn't any mobs your level that drop it ...

    And in some cases, the mobs your level that do drop it do so with such low probability, you might only get 1 drop out of those 30 ...

    Still, 5 from 30 mobs is equivalent to a 16.7% drop rate, which I think is reasonable, especially when you consider that this is in addition to the normal means of getting that mat ...

    Also, keep in mind that if you find some other players the same level (since different level players would get a different mob) to team up with, you could all take the same Mat quest, and all get the reward ... so I don't think we want to make the reward too high.
