Is there such thing as a "heavy armor" build for a wizard?
I am thinking of starting a wizard class character and so I've been reading up on many of the wizard guids out there and I was just cerious if it were possiable to build a "SUCCESSFUL" (notice: I mean successful!) heavy armor wizard build. I was thinking just enough str and dex for your heavy armor and everything else into magic.
I was just thinking that if a wizard could just sit there with stone barrier activated and dragon's breath blazing, that you would make a rather useful tank wouldn't it? And as a tank, you don't really worry too much about your damage output because your job is to take the hits. Therefore, the loss in attrabute points to magic isn't really a big deal in the end, right?
Based on everything I have looked at (thus far anyways), stone barrier gives the most physical defence self-buff there is to offer in the game. Mixed with team members physical defence buffs, you should be rather... "physicaly invincable" wouldn't you? So that would make you an AoE casting Tank, right?
I don't know, just a thought. But back to the original question. Has anyone tried this? Would it turn out to be a waist of time in the later levels? Guess I'm just cerious.

Like any build, it's all about your personal preferance; and every type of builds has its pros and cons. I guess I'll just have to wing it go with trial and error. I can always revise my stats later if need be.It's an Assassin Nation!0

heavy armor does not make you physically invincible.
as a bm, i take 40-90 damage from every hit.
now thats with some vit, decent hp, and 25% evade.
as a mage, you'll have no vit, no hp, and no evade.
good tank? i don't think so ^^
furthermore, to pump out the 5 str needed for the best heavy armor, you won't have enough for the best mag weapon (needs 6 mag).
so, you can either use not quite the best armor, or not quite the best magic.
but you're mistaken if you think you can tank a buncha mobs
EDIT: i think you need a bit of dex too for heavy armor. so...that puts you even more in the hole for stats.
i'm not saying its a bad build, rather, this build is great for surviving.
however, you give up a lot of potential damage, and hp.
most do not think its worth it, as a mage's job is to dd, not to survive. better hope you have a good tank
EDIT2: furthermore, whats the most important stat to a tank? vit! and how much vit do you have? 0! (or 5 i guess) nuff said.0
