Which is more useful for pure magic wizard, items with physical resistance or elemental resistance?

They're both important. If you're looking at bonuses (blue text) or gems, physical resistance and hit points are what you want. However, make sure any piece of armor you have has all 5 elemental resistances.

But in terms of necklaces and belts that give either or (not bonuses), which should I be choosing? In other words...what do monsters usually use more, physical or elemental damage?

most of the monsters i fight have elemental values.I rarely see any that dont have a elemental value.

just because they got an element it doesnt mean they do magic attack.

Depends on where you're leveling. A large percentage of mobs past level 60 or so have magic attacks unless you're right up in their face.

As for accessories on a pure mag wizard, aim for physical defense early on. What you do later depends on what goals you have in mind.

For belt/necklace I go either physical or evasion and for ring I always go magic attack.

Also for Divine Pyrogram, personally I do not like the channel time but it is good for a nuke/surprise attack. I just got it but will only lvl if I have extra coin/sp.
As the sun sets in the fire-blown sky, the advent of war falls upon us. I will go, fight for my nation, for my people. I will use my magic, to strike from a distance, never backing down. I will go, and bring glory to our kind. Because the time has come for this war to end. We need to band together and defeat the Wraiths. I will help make that happen. For I am a Wizard.

For a Robe wizard you shouldn't really need any pluses to magic defence so long as you have all 5 elements present on your gear. I dont mind having one piece of equipment missing some elements depending on the bonuses given for example I have some boots with only 3 elements with +0.2 m/s and +69 pdef and some other bonus which in my opinion is worth it. And if its missing water/earth or even fire resistance definately consider it as you'll have you magic elemental shields to supplement.

And what /haiku/ said is right (at least i think it is i cant read her font size :P) mobs past 60 are by and large magic based.

For PK, use whichever has the best attack bonuses(Crit, -%, +matk, +mag).
For TW, use whichever gives the best defense and hp.
For grinding, use magic ornaments with +Exp bonuses(Halloween event, drops, crafts)

    ...

you shouldn't ever really get mdef stones, because def and mdef reduction is in the form of like...1/x

meaning if you have say, 2000 mdef already, even 200-300 more mdef will give you a max of maybe 2-5% more reduction.

while 200-300 more pdef over your pathetic say, 200-300 pdef, will give you maybe 10-20% more phys reduction. which will save your life =)

Robe users who want the 69fb cloak make me want to cry. If you really want more magic resistance, I don't really know how to respond.

Basically blue stats I aim for physical defense because those are affected by your stone barrier. When it comes to stones I go with HP because if you put physical defense stones in your armor it doesn't get the stone barrier bonus.

I guess my HP isn't as good but I like my physical defense. This is with just stone barrier as a pure int as well. 12 vit is from some equipment.
    Gasp, my stats.
