PW Database way off

The PW database is a great resource execpt I dont believe that the drop percentages are ever accurate. I could kill 15 mobs that the database say have a 32% drop rate and only get only get 1 drop. This is so with most of the mobs I find and it is very frusterating to me. I often find that I will get a higher drop percentage from a mob that his a listed drop rate 15-20% lower than others.

    the drop rate shown is the ITEM drop rate. meaning if u kill a mob and coins drop, thats not an item drop, and the % doesnt apply to that.

    if it says 32%, and your killed 15 mobs, then on average it would have been 12 coin drops, 2 other item drops, and 1 item drop of what you were looking for.

    also note that the higher lvl u are above the mob, the greater chance u will get coins. while the drop rate remains the same, the chance u'll get an item decreases significantly.

    Each mob has a let's say 25% chance to drop something.

    This does not automatically mean every 4th mob will actually drop something. For each new mob you attack 25% drop chance applies, this way it makes sense that you killed 15 mobs and only got one drop.

    See each mob as an individual, not as a group, you kill 100 mobs and it does NOT mean that 25% of said mobs drop something.

    There are 2 drop rate %'s to consider when determining the real drop rate. The rate that the mob drops an item is one most are around 25-30% then its a 30% chance out of the original drop rate chance that it will be the item you want. So really items that have a 30% drop rate are closer to 10%
    drop rate for DQ items or mats.

    i used to use pw data base, but got frustrated with it, but now i use rob soft, which i think is better, but try it pout and see if u like it or not, heres the link. http://pw.rob-soft.com/m1in.php and it=f that doesnt work with teh little end bit, just try with .com

    Err pwdatabase is correct but the "Real" drop rate is the one you're looking for on average.

    That one is not recorded in game but was calculated and put there for your convenience.


    What the game holds is the Default Drop rate, but that's the chance an item has to be when the monster drops an item


    For example take a look at Mothran Dazzlewing mob:

    Lethal Venom has a 61.7750% chance to drop as you see. But the real-drop-rate based on how many mobs you kill to get something is far less. Because, take a look at this in its properties:


    Drop rate of severals items

    0: 75.9369%
    1: 18.0473%
    2: 4.8126%
    3: 1.2032%


    So you have a 75.9369% chance to not drop anything. IF you by-pass this test, meaning the remaining 25% or so percents trigger, one two or three items drop. Each item dropped will do another random test, to see what item actually dropped from all the pool of items this mob has.

    Here, Lethal Venom is most probably to by pass the test with the 61.7750% chance.
