Wizards and dueling

I have noticed my wizard cannot ever win a duel with anyone the same level or even 5 levels below
Unless it is another wizard. He cannot take physical damage and barbarians and blademasters are the hardest.
Does anyone have a good strategy or set up or way of dueling them?
Btw my wizard is lvl 39

Wizards really aren't the best 1 on 1 PVP class.I find they work best in group PVP such as TW. And even then, they don't truely shine untill around 59 I think?0

Never stay on same place, thats what they want you to do and thats where they are best at, landing all their physical attack skills at your head at once. Run, fly, jump, use objects against them. The time they waste jumping a wall is the time you need to cast that 2 seconds spell.
But against clerics, you are so dead...Havent figured a way to any wizard bellow lv50 (thats how far i tried) to beat a cleric.(Retired from Perfect World)

Wizard against any cleric built with PVP in mind of the same level doesn't really stand a chance. For example,I almost beat a level 53 wizard in my guild at level 36.
Plume Shot
the best counter against cleric a Wizard really has is to use apothecary to make items that decrease casting time and to place physical defense/VIT gems into their armor. Of course any class can do that.
Edit: oh and before anyone thinks I'm being negative about wizards,I'm really not. Just putting forth facts mixed with my own personal experience. Wizards are a great class and have their positives and negatives,as do all classes.0 -
What items can speed up casting time?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

There's this red citrus looking thing (frogot it's name) that increases damage and casting time for 15 seconds but you also take alot more damage during that time.
Have a read of the potions that the apoth offers you to craft.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Wizards don't win duels. See, they have long-charging skills... best used for sniping (TW, PK). Duels are not a Wizard's specialty.
... Duels are pointless anyways. You don't need to win them.As a Guild,

I can only imagine a Wizard being able to slaughter a Cleric level 85+ being able to slaughter Clerics by pulling the trigger first and not letting the opposing cleric the chance to buff or cast.
What I had in mind was...
Soporific Whisper (Instant Cast 4 second sleep), Essential Sutra (Instant, All spells no Channel for 6 seconds), Undine Strike (Instant, -60% Magic Defense), Level 10 Glacial Snare (Wake up with 80% Slow), Force of Will level 10 (End of Instant with Silence Effect + Stun for 5 seconds), Will of Phoenix (Fast Cast), then Gush (Fast Cast + Slow).
This will either kill the Cleric or leave the Cleric barely alive due to the massive reduction of magic resistance and the immobile nature, magic defense reduction, movement slowdown, and fast spells cast back to back.
Of course, it'd require the trigger to be pulled first, otherwise the Wizard is doomed.0 -
I never won a duel before lvl 59, which was when I got Essential Sutra. Afterwards, it seems that the only class that I lose to these days are clerics. Even then so, the fights are usually pretty close.
Duelling is pointless anyways; just kills your charms.●Wizard (Male) - Fasditious and pretentious, carries the arrogance of intellectual superiority. Feels the need to remind everyone of his world-ending power, but grows a little manic and unhinged when he finally is allowed to unleash it. "Ahh-hahahahaha!! NOW YOU ALL BURN!!!!"

Level 39, eh...? I guess that part is pretty hard. Wizards are still hard to use during those time until the Essential Sutra... and I guess Wizard's speciality is in PvE, not PvP... (Wizards are good ranged attacker for boss battle)... but yeah, just like what they say, don't stay in one place. ><
Clerics are hard, the hardest one with their fast casting time and buff (BM can do it pretty easily though... lol I won from a cleric by canceling their incantation each time... it's really "beautiful" :DD)
Good job to all Wizards who won and go through their levelling. ^^ Keep it up!!0 -

The problem is though that if the cleric survives, they have the chance to cast their own sleep debuff and then completely heal themselves. Also, the level 3 version of their sleep debuff has a farther range then the Wizard's, while it's very little of a range difference at level 3 it could pose a problem. So while it might work on someone with a low level chromatic seal (level 1 or 2) after that, you'd have to hope either the cleric isn't built with pvp in mind or has yet to level their chromatic,of course the fact that the wizard's is a instant cast could balance that out. Either way, that is a good combination of skills that I didn't think about myself.
Edit: Oh and also, forgot to mention earlier, but chromatic's seal increases with level maxing out at a range of 28.0 at the sage/demon level while soporific is stuck at a range of 20.00 -
mages are good at pk.. especially suprise atk just like archer..if u want to duel.. get lvl 80+ then duel...0

I can kill a cleric that has vit around my level.. FoW -> Sutra -> DP+Sandstorm+Glacial Snare, but that's circumstantial and dependent on the fact that charms don't activate during duels. My BT can come very close to 1hkoing a robe hybrid build without plume shell if the cleric is my level or lower (it's level 1), and it can 1hko most FACs. Most of them don't think to use plume shell against a wizard, either, which is a plus, especially because your typical robe cleric support or FAC has much lower pdef than a wizard that stacks it with hp thanks to earth barrier. If you really want to BT them, you can use FoW to give yourself enough time to cast it.. though ill advised if you cannot 1hko your opponent. To say they can't win a duel against a cleric is a tad off; it depends on a lot of things. My wins and losses with clerics are pretty half and half, and the losses are often very close. I would say it might even start falling in my favor after the 79 cult (sleep + mdef debuff).
@Dtone, FoW does not stun, it only seals.
Wizards can win duels. It's just a hell of a lot harder for them than other classes./Haiku/ -- Cognitive atrophy at its finest.

just wait until you get Essential Sutra. you will win almost every duel. Force of Will really helps too.omg im posting stuff.0
