I wrote a guide for some guild mates about using the auction hall and since I didn't see one here when I searched for one, I thought I would post it. I hope this may clear up some confusion.

Ive received a few questions about how to use the auction hall so I thought I would write a guide here on how to use it.

The auction hall can be accessed by an auctioneer. Auctioneers are located in all of the main cities and in each of the districts of archosaur and in a few of the other larger cities. When you first click on the auctioneer there are three options. The first option is to enter the auction hall. The second option is for gold trading and the third is a small guide on gold trading. Since there is a small guide on gold trading in the game Ill just offer a short discussion on how to use it.

Gold trading is to buy or sell gold that is used to buy things in the item mall using in game money. When you click on gold trading, a new window opens. On the right hand side of the window there is a box with the prices and number of gold people are selling and buying gold for. If you would like to buy gold using in game money you can put down how many coins you are willing to pay for each gold and how much gold you are willing to buy. If you want to be sure you get gold, I suggest setting your price near the selling cost of gold. If you want to sell gold you basically do the same thing, setting a price for how much you are charging and how many you are willing to sell. That is basically all there is to gold trading. If you have any other questions check out the small in game guide.

Now on to my favorite part, the auction hall. The auction hall is a great place to try to sell your stuff, buy something cheap, or make some money. First Ill
discuss how to buy something on the auction hall, then how to sell, and finally some tips for making money using the auction hall.
When you click to open the auction hall a window appears and lists the most recent items put up for auction. This list is difficult to go through and has no organization other than the order people have put items up for auction so I would not recommend trying to scroll through the list if you are looking for something. The best way to use the auction hall is to filter the results. Lets say for example you are looking to buy wraith leggings. We begin by clicking on the button near the upper right corner of the window that says filter. A smaller window appears with a left and a right side. The right side has a box that you can supposedly type things into to search for items but it never works so dont even bother trying to use it. On the left side however, there is a list of broad categories of items. Since we are looking for armor, look through the list until you see the category armor. Click on the plus sign next to armor to expand the category. Now we see a list of more categories of armor. We are looking for wraith leggings which are arcane (magical) leggings. Look through the categories until you find arcane leggings. When you find it click on the plus sign next to it. Arcane leggings now expands to show all the types of arcane leggings listed in order by lvl required to wear them. Scroll down the list and click on wraith leggings to highlight it. Now that the armor you are looking for is highlighted, click the button labeled filter. The small window disappears and we are left with the large window listing all the wraith leggings that are up for bid. (This list may be empty if there are no wraith leggings up for auction.)

Put your mouse over the names to see the stats for each armor. Next to each armor is a bid price, a buy now price, and the time left on the auction. If you want to bid on an armor, click on the armor and then click the bid button. Money will automatically be taken from your inventory and your bid will be entered into the system. If nobody outbids you (bids more money on the item) then after the auction time is up, the item will be delivered to your postbox. (Look for the envelope icon near the map on your screen). If someone outbids you before the auction time is up, you will get a message in your postbox refunding your money. If you want to, you can go back to the auction hall and outbid that persons bid with a higher one.
If you really want an item and dont want to wait for the auction time to be up, you can use the buy now option. The buy now option is only available if the person putting the item up for auction sets a price for it. If there is no buy now option then you have to wait the full auction time. If you use the buy now option, the item will instantly be delivered to your postbox.

Now onto selling items using the auction hall. To sell an item in the auction hall, click the button on the lower left corner of the window that is labeled my auctions. A new window appears. All of the items you currently have up for auction are displayed on the right of this window. On the left side is where you can put more items up for auction. To put an item up for auction, drag the item from your inventory into the item box. Next set a starting bid price. This is the lowest price you are willing to sell the item for. You can also put a buy now price if you want to but it is not required. Next you need to select the duration of your auction. There are three durations to choose from. The auction hall charges a fee to put items up for auction. The longer the duration you choose and the higher the bid price you enter, the higher the fee will be. In other words it doesnt cost as much to have an 8 hour long auction as it does a 24 hour long one, but less people may see your item. When you are done entering everything, click the button to start the auction. If someone bids on your item or buys it outright using the buy now option, the money, minus the fee the auction hall charges, will be delivered to your postbox. If no one bids on the item before the auction is over, the item and a percentage of the fee will be delivered in to your postbox.

Now that you know all you need to know to buy and sell things at auction here are a few tips I have.

Get to know the price of certain items. For instance if a mirage stone normally sells for 30k, and you see one up for auction at 15k, buy it. You can then sell the mirage stone in a stall and make a profit. People also look for cheap mats, dq, and other items to buy at the auction hall and then turn around and sell again for a profit. For example, I once bought 5 items at the auction hall for 30k. I then turned around and sold each of them for 35k making a profit of 145k.
Check the auction hall for armors, and weapons. Many 3 star equipments are up for auction for decent prices.
Good luck and happy auctioning.

Thats a nice guide, got me interested in the auction hall bit for sure.....

Its got my vote for a sticky! b:cool

One question though.....am I right in assuming that you do not need to be online for the auction duration? If yes then thats a great way to sell some items I have.

Also, approx what % of the selling price does the auctioneer charge?

Thanks for the guide! b:thanks b:victory

The auction charges 2 fees for selling. When you put items up you are charged immediately 10, 15, or 20% of the NPC value (with a minimum of 500 coins) depending on the lenght of the auction. After the item is sold another charge of 5% of the selling price is deducted from proceeds.
