Do, you need it to play? no. It does enhance some aspects of gameplay though, and makes my life easier with things like charms. However for the most part, charms can be replaced in a properly built party with herbal remedies creatable purely in game. At least so far. However, since you're on the pvp server, I'd suggest investing in guardian angels as well to protect the stuff you carry with you, and probably in safe extension stones so you can carry less. Still, not necessary, just helps with not losing your stuff.

Charms are vital. You won't be able to play without charms at 60+, and if you're a werebeast you will be spending 7.5 buck a day on charms until they realize this is unacceptable.

Once the gold price hits 300k (600k+ for a low end charm), mark my words, people will not join this server and man will quit.
You can't play this game, especially as a newbie, with such a high gold price, and the cost on your irl wallet is murder.

Zoe is so full of it, that he must be Karmelia.

I heared venomancers don't really need the cash shop? I'm personally not into pvp much, so I'm on the pve server and currently I can't actually spend any money on extra's as we're already low and we're planning on doing something real life that might cost a lot so I need to safe as much as I can for that (breeding purebred kittens, you'd think it makes money, but it costs a lot!). Maybe after all that I could buy a think or two from the cash shop but until then I can't, can I still play the game? I'm a veno, didn't choose it for that reason, just read it here, is it true?

If finding a balanced party is an alternative to burning through with a Charm and a bunch of spam-happy Wizards, I can understand the appeal, but I don't think "can't play" or "need" is the right word.

Mods really need to stop giving out false info. I posted this before I'll post it again:

Please tell me, how can I grind efficently when I have 2,400 hp and a mob hits me for over 500 hp? Without a HP charm I would waste so much time waiting for the pots to cool down, not to mention I would plain out DIE if a mob spawns right next to me while I'm killing another.

Same pretty much goes for the wizard too, who seem to be even more fragile than archers, not to mention both archers and wizards constantly need MP.

I waste more MP and HP charms with normal grinding than I do when I'm in a Zhen party. Isn't the latter supposed to be expensive and grinding being bearable?

I think something is very very wrong here. It might have been INTENDED to be playable without charms, but as an archer and wizard you're pretty much screwed without charms...I'd plain out call it unplayable in higher lvls without charms.

    what does pvp mean exactly
On the Lost city server, other players will be able to attack you at will after a certain level.

Ever really look at what the apothecary's remedies can do for you? If you're having trouble without your charm when soloing, the higher levels of lifepowder and focus powder would be greatly beneficial, along with the quick saving hp balls 6000+hp in 15 secs should be sufficient to at least give oyu enough cushion to run the heck away when you get mobbed. Yes it's tedious farming herbs and the good ones are ALWAYS sold out in town because of the people who know, but imo, it's worth it for the money saved.

Carry a pocket cleric around with you, at least related to mobs, I have had no problem keeping 1 or two wildly killing barbs or bm's alive (as long as they're in close proximity to one another) without their charm ticking once with only herbal remedies used on myself to keep my mp up and give me a little longer to retreat when a mob splits onto me, not sure if the same would hold true for pvp battles or not, but there's an obvious difference between the two.

Patience is the key to not ticking your charm in many cases from what I've seen, I know you don't want to sit and wait from time to time between battles so you're completely ready for what should be just another minor fight you're sure to win, but what's better, spending $$, leveling at a casual pace, or trying to level fast and instead dying often losing a chunk of exp every time you do. Yes you may die while leveling casually, but less than fighting everything without a care for preparedness for the battle.

b:shocked To change servers you'll need to make a new character. Don't listen to everyone else. Just play!

Btw, I'm on the pvp server. What has not been mentioned is that you really don't drop stuff when pkd if you are white name (have not killed anyone). I think it's about 1% chance of dropping something. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Whisper me in-game if you need any help! b:victory
