Skill costs are a bit outrageous if you ask me

I just hit lvl 39 and did the Spiritual Cultivation. Well just to buy a few skills afterward with my newly aquired spirit it cost me something like 120K coin. And I'm only level 31! Why in the world do skills cost so much? They should be lowered a bit..

I just hit 19 and I can't upgrade my spirit cause I don't have enough rep..

They should have quest give you enough rep so you can get it done, but now I guess I gotta wait til I can upgrade my Cultivation level.

they sort of expect people to just do quests most of the time so rep isn't usually a problem. It is if you're the type that just grinds most of the time though. Bit annoying I suppose but luckily I haven't hit that problem.

Yeah, reputation for the normal game part isn't a problem if you follow the quests.

For the money to buy skills... I guess it depends on the build. My Venomancer has almost 500K cash at lvl 38, and I've given up trading with players a long time ago, so all this is from normal gameplay. It doesn't make me rich (so, for example, I can't do the Halloween lottery), but currently I have no problems (yet?) to buy my skill upgrades.

You still don't get enough reputation for the "ranks" (I got the requirement for rank 1 a bit later than 30, and I will miss the rank 2 at lvl 40 by a LOT). Other than being allowed to buy overpriced stuff that doesn't even tell you stats beforehand there's nothing to be gained from ranks, as far as I know, so I don't care.

Having repeatable quests for reputation would be nice, though. And I'm not talking "one man army" here, if you're trying to build reputation with these you're better off quitting the game right away.

Well, to be fair, Venos are pretty much equivalent to King Midas in making money. Generally, you don't have as much you need to throw at gear or consumables. Still, at the OP, there are a few things you can do to save up for the skills you need.

First thing i would suggest is to avoid the Dragon Quests like the plague. You end up saving a butt load of DQ items, or even having to buy some to avoid too much travel, and of course the teleport costs (or time if you run/ride there). Instead, if you sell the DQ items to players through your AFK shop, you can end up making 3-4x the merchant costs. Trust me, I'm a barb, and after having done 4 DQs and being broke most of the time, I'm now sitting on over 500k from just setting up shop and selling my excess... and that's AFTER getting 150k in skills.

Second thing is, of course, setting up AFK shops instead of logging. Just look around at other shops for a good price on whatever you have, and use your best judgment. Selling things you craft (2 star or higher weapons, armor and ornaments) can help, but for making money, just sell the materials you don't need. If you have some decent gear, and you get something better, put your older stuff in an AFK shop. Again, you'll make easily 3-4x the NPC merchant amount if you sell to other players.

Thirdly, which you probably already know, but only buy the skills you need in whatever branches you're going for in your build. You probably will run out of spirit before money anyway if you're going all over the place with various skills. But yeah, it was worth mentioning.
