This forum seems to have 3 people who are regularly on from the PW staff. That is surtr, darthpanda16 and gattsuro (With him I'm actually not sure if he is from the staff but the way he posts suggests this).
Well in the last game I played they had socalled CL's (Community Leaders) on the forum. They had no actual powers ingame just on the forums they would try to moderate the posts keep it friendly, etc
The way it was done they had cover on the forums nearly 24/7. They choose people from the community who were active on the forums gave them some guildelines to work from and just let them get on it with it with minimal problems through it. They could not actually ban people or anything like that but they worked closely with the GM's. And if they were problems on the forums by an individual or two they could close or even outright delete threads. Or just edit posts from any user who had broken a rule. Of course they had to answer to the GM's about those things but it still gave the GM's alot more time to deal with the truly important things like any ingame problems.
I have seen this on another forum where it worked very well and still does to my knowlege.

Besides Gattsuro, there are a couple of other moderators, don't quite remember the names, but I think Roxi and Howl?
Even with these moderators, I think the rules are too loose and many of the posts are down right rude. If it weren't for the GM's posting, I'd be on another site.0 -
I don't mean for them to completely stop posting just that it could free up alot of time on their side if there was someone doing things like I already described without them having to do it.0

I'm not a member of the PWE staff, just a community moderator. I believe the same's the case for Roxy and Hawk. I think Ryuuzaki is in the same boat, but I'm honestly unsure. Community moderators have no in-game powers (at all -- my in-game account looks the exact same as everyone elses, albeit lower level than many), but are intended to maintain the rules and regulations of the forums, closing, redirecting, or deleting threads if necessary, or altering posts if the objectionable content is not the majority of a post or thread.
There are a number of PWE staff on the forums. They're more in charge of bans, official announcements, and major posts. They do also have other obligations tied to PWE, though, so there is a limit to how much some of these folk can post.
Our main focus is to help players, and then to maintain the Rules of the forum. While I don't like ruder posts, I'd rather not be too heavy-handed on those matters, and going beyond the rules placed in the forum guide is not fun for players of any stripe.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I wasnt sure and you are the only other person who is not a normal member of staff I ever really see who is a Moderator. Though the way you type you had me fooled into thinking you are a member of staff. b:chuckle0

I understand the main focus is to help people, but it's a bit difficult to help when the atmosphere of the forums is so hostile. It can be very intimidating to post on these forums when you think there's a good chance of getting flamed.
Can we at least get some control for this rule? (Might help with some of the hostility):
7. No trolling, or flaming.
Any form of personal insult will not be tolerated. General rule of thumb: if you think that what you are about to post is insulting, don't post it.0
