I just wanted to make a post asking the community on their opinions of a subject which was a big issue in my old mmo. No need for flames here.
In my old mmo the buffing/healing class was abused really badly. We were ordered around like slaves, demmanded buffs/heals no matter where we went ( some of us went to great lengths just to hide the fact we were healers) If we didn't have the desired equips our partners wanted us to wear then tough luck, however these eqs cost over 45mil and our partners hardly ever shared drops..so how did they expect us to come up with that money?
What im trying to get to here though, is that in my old mmo..should they even have bothered to say 'please' it was plz/ pl0x/ pliss/ pz/ ples....anything but please. What gets me is, yes even though it's an online game and we abbreviate alot of words to make way for faster typing..
Is it really that hard for someone to spend like 1.5 seconds or more to type a few extra letters when asking for something which they receive for free with nothing given the cleric?
I mean just a little more time to show respect to the cleric for going out of their way to buff that person?
Most people on my old mmo thought it was just ridiculous with things said such as "it's online gtfo if you don't like it" and ect ect.. But 90% of the healer population felt it quite rude when someone tried to use an abbreviated manner on them. Either we demmanded they spill the full word or they got nothing. This mainly stemmed from the fact we were treated so bad there and this was the time where we felt we had some sort of power over them.
Clerics are treated pretty well here but i'd just like to know what the majority of you think on this. Mature answers only please.

+ 1 support on this
i really agree, i allways ask nicely for a revive or a buff if i need one with propper english ^^, and i always thank them a few times for it.
im allways a supporter for good manners and behaviour, i havent met many assh*les in this game yet, so far its been really good.
but i allways repay those who have helped me0 -
I coem from an MMO witht he initials RO (not sure if I can say names) and I felt sorry for our Priests, they would heal and buff and msot of the time the blighters asking would simply just shout HEAL or at best Heal Plz, personally unless its a situatuon of heal or die I would never do that, I will say Can I have a heal and buffs pleaseI thought it was best to be curtious.
The one time I made a priest I instantly hated it after a week ro so of playing and having people shout heal at me, also if you don't heal them they get pissy because they feels its there right for you to heal em.
but to answer your question I think its best to ask for a heal and buffs nicely, though if you are in a fight and dont have time to type that then screaming heal will be accepted if followed by a thank you.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
As soon as someone demands that I heal them, the only response they get is a resounding "feck off". Same goes for not typing properly.
Honestly, you're only treated like a slave if you let yourself be treated like a slave. Stand up for yourself, healmonkey!0 -
lol yeah, in a situation where there isn't time for it, it's acceptable but what i'm talking about is just around normal mobs or even in town.0

I always treat clerics with respect, I believe the reason why so many people shy away from clerics is because they don't want so many people to rely on them for healing. Especially when it comes to FB dungeons.
Clerics in this game seem to be awesome overall, there's been a lot of times where a cleric would come out of nowhere and buff me. I also was buffed with reflect from venos a lot as well.
So the least I can do is show them respect. I've met a lot of nice people on this game especially clerics, so I'm not too stuck up like othesr to show them some respect.0 -
I have to say, I'm guilty of not fully spelling out words sometimes and often I abbreviate things when I'm talking to friends (for example, I go tyty when I'm saying thank you for buffs or whatever). So I don't mind so much when someone comes up to me and says 'heal plox!' or other variations of that as long as they actually say 'please' in some form or another.
However, if they demand to be healed or buffed and are rude about it - not waiting for me to finish what I'm doing or constantly demanding things, I usually ignore them
Slightly off topic, but kind of related as well (at least when it comes to good manners).... I simply cannot understand why some people think that the best way to ask you if you want to squad with them is by running up and killing things you're killing and then throwing you a squad invite. I mean, I realize in some areas the maps are very crowded and accidental KSing happens all the time, but when you follow me around on a fairly empty map, shoot stuff I'm killing/hunting (that's attacking me back), it's just plain rude to throw me a squad invite without even saying anything XD0 -
Oh A massive thanks to all those random buffs I suddenyl have, there have been so many times I have been playing, checked my email and checked back after somethign I was bashing is dead to find I have reflect on. I always feel bad I never see who and havent been able to say thanks >.<[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
-
Lol i've had that happen aurelhati..I kinda laugh then refuse.
They don't even have to ks you, I just get spammed random invites most of the time0 -
Yeah to all clerics. From now on if you decide to buff me let me know that it's you that did it. I always have a habit of thanking the wrong person or not thanking the person that buffed me at all because they're already gone lol.0
-
ooh and those ninja buffers too...I'm trying desperatly to stay alive fighting mobs, next thing I know i'm getting buffed but I can't find who's doing it
I say thanks but no reply :00 -
I will normally throw a shout up on normal chat asking for a squad invite if I see some one killing things I need killing.
Though i tend to do it and let them kill while Ill kill just near by since I almsot always will set the party to free take, I get annoyed when its on random and the otehr person is getting 80% of the items because they just wont pick things up because they know they will get it if I do.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I get nice replies and thanks very often when on my Cleric, tossing around "ninja buffs" (as the poster above me puts it). It seems that the general attitude towards Clerics is fairly good in PW, compared to other games I have played a healer...Danyelle - Nocturne Faction0

Random is never random lol. I never get any drops from it
I only party with "free" now :00 -

I get that a lot too, and I don't mind. I usually just ignore the invites or if I'm feeling like squadding, I don't mind squadding with others. Normally I squad with my friends though... it's only when I'm soloing that it annoys me when people KS me then think I'll want to squad with them lol.
And adding the point of randomly buffing players? I do that all the time no matter what MMORPG I play XD I don't mind if I don't get thanks, especially if the person I buffed is busy, and I do run off after buffing people usually XD XD XD0 -

ROLF LMAO thats good and made me laugh lots.Random is never random lol. I never get any drops from it

It pretty much seems to me that who ever grabs it has the lowest chane of getting it, I will get 1 at best in 5 items that i try to pick up.
Much prefer it on free, though random is good for an FB because other wise clerics / casters have no chance of loot.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
omg Ruul, that come from my old mmo o_O
that was like..what we always said :00 -
I still preffer random for Fbs though in the small hope I might get something, considering I play both veno and cleric which are both ranged.
Drops are gone before I get there ^_^;
But this is getting off topic, manners..rawr!! x[0 -
We can talk about looting manners?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

lol, I just want to hear what more people think about this. So far everyone is agreeing :00

well this game is not designed with the NECESSITY of cleric for grinding..
in another game clerics were..you couldnt grind without one, soloing was suicide without cleric buffs...
cleric buffs were proportional to "INT" with a know max cap from having +10 int equips and max grade gems.. man people got picky and buff beggy after a while on server, id see a lot of clerics get dismissed for haveing **** buffs., which was understandable with the design of the game with the strive to attain 100% dodge and min damage take
even with equipment max refined (glowed liek a $%# lightbulb) all max grade gems and yes of course max INT you wouldnt get respect from a lot of people..
a lot of these problems are based on game design, not the community per say.
fortunately not so much a problem here from what ive seen :]0 -
Mosz I think me and you used ot play the same game ^^, though my mains were sinx and a stalker.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Heal/Support classes are treated like a sub-servant in almost any game you walk into. Especially in games with any amount of PvP involved. "WHERE WAS THE FKN HEAL?"
That typically begins into the downward spiral into healer-induced-madness where they stop buying their heals (mainly their res) just to spite each other. It's a hilarious progression. What im trying to get to here though, is that in my old mmo..should they even have bothered to say 'please' it was plz/ pl0x/ pliss/ pz/ ples....anything but please. I don't think it's a matter of not spending the time (although with the AOL generation, this has typically become the place), but rather the 'gold standard' of chatting consists of nothing more than trendy and cliche catchphrases like you're learning a second language. I don't mind the short-hand more than I do the general banter about people being "dum" or "your stupid"; it's those people that drive me up a wall and wonder why abortion isn't carried over until the age of 7.Most people on my old mmo thought it was just ridiculous with things said such as "it's online gtfo if you don't like it" and ect ect.. the whole "its just a game" and "if you don't like it gtfo" thing is typically used by either extremists/elitists to counter-point excessive whinging, or just people that have no real arguement to hold themselves on and use that as a failsafe card acting like it's the end of a discussion.
That being said. Clerics in this game are a very strange breed. This game is very solo friendly (probably to the point where if you group you're actually HURTING yourself) up until the 60's, outside of FB's and Cultivations, which higher level players would help you with anyway. So you actually get enforced to level bare-minimum healing talents and instead maxing your core nukes and buffs until such point as you get into a guild and you're in the 55+ region where cleansing and healing abilities take a bit more spotlight. That doesn't mean you *have* to do that, though. I've read things about Clerics that never even got a rank1 res or heal because of the mindset that "Once someone knows you have it, they'll ask you for it".
So there's a lot of flexibility, just know it's very costly to play the class and you have to build your character around whether you're playing/grinding by yourself or with groups.0 -
Spudfuzz I know exactly the game you are talking about. I come from that game myself. The entire population is very rude to healers (and everyone else for that matter). One reason I left the game, the players are horrible, horrible people.Main characters
Celestial Sage Venomancer Zoe - 100
Sage Barbarian Malego - 910 -
I agree that it would be nice for people to use at least more than just "buff plz". I tend to ignore the people that think two words constitute a courteous request, though on the other hand I've been known to buff people then follow them and heal them if I have nothing else to do if they used a complete sentence, ie "could I please get some buffs?".
Buffing someone isn't the big problem I have though. My big pet peeve is when people seem to think that they need to yell at you to heal, in caps, generally spelled wrong, because they're at 50% health and you haven't gotten to healing them yet, despite the fact that you're the only cleric in a group where everyone needs to be healed, you don't have blue ball, and that one whiner refuses to use their own pots. Sorry, turning into a rant at this point, but that is the fastest way to get on my bad side. Also, hate when you're partied with a couple that is "mariried" in game, and the wifey yells at you to heal her hubby... *eye roll*0 -
You wouldn't have to worry about my gf screaming to heal me XD. She's a cleric herself b:pleased0
-
I never ask for heal or buffs but I always say thanks if I get them randomly, I used to mostly play support or tank jobs in whatever MMO so I know what it's like to get treated like a healbot. I never let people get away with it myself though, at best I'd ignore them but if I was in a bad mood already I let them have it.
Of course, I'm also notorious for yelling at the healer in whatever group I'm in for running off to go res someone else that's spamming for one in shouts.....they should've thought about partying with a healer if they wanted to be taken care of.0
