Flying pet question

I've been looking through all the posts but haven't been able to find an answer to my question and maybe one of you can answer it for me?

I just got to lvl 30 last night and I received me first flyable pet. I'm wondering, to make it faster do I have to do some other quest at another time/lvl or is something I can just buy to upgrade.

    Besides the acceleration option, which you have to recharge using magic stones, you can only upgrade it using the cash shop.
