Weapon types: How are they different?

Howdy! I'm extremely new to the game (lv 4 Blademaster), and I was wondering what the differences between weapons are. Right now I'm using the sword I got from my first quest, but I'm thinking about swapping to another weapon. The only problem is that I don't know anything about how they're different, so I don't know what to choose from a gameplay standpoint.

All I've learned from browsing the forums so far is that Spears are good for PvP, Dual Axes have a lot of AoE attacks, and most people think that Claws and Fists are weak.

On an unrelated note, is there ever a reason for a Blademaster to put points in MAG?

    A lot of people go for axes, although plenty go for swords and blades, while few go for fists.
    Axes are good for fast leveling and great AOEs, swords, blades, and fists are for DD, and spears tend to be tanks. I don't know why people hate on fist warriors, from my limited experience, they're pretty good against casters and can solo pretty well too.

    Because they're jealous of our amazing lightning fast attacks, 1.43 Attacks per second FTW!!!!

    But they are pretty weak.......

    Base on my own judgement... :D

    Spear: Highest Dmg but Slow in attacking speed
    Fist: Fastest attacking speed, lowest damage
    Dual Sword/axe: Average Dmg, fast attacking speed...

    I'm using Spear by the way... Since its free from Lvl 19 FB quest =P

    Early in the game, the stat requirements of weapons are low enough that you can swap between a few things, but you will find out around level 25ish that you will either have the strength for axes, or the dex for dual swords (just 2 examples) and you have to make a choice from a stat building perspective.

    My recommendation to you would be that the next time you go to train your skills to higher level, click on the skill tree option on the bottom right (I believe it can be accessed from the skill menu wherever you are honestly, just don't remember for sure). When you look at the skills at the lower ends of the trees, you will see some require axes, some swords, some fists, etc. From a skill standpoint this might help you figure out what you want to do. Just keep in mind (and I haven't experienced this myself, only heard of it), there is a lot of character value and utility in having AE skills.

    As far as how weapon types are different, its really just attack speed and damage. The main difference is what I said earlier with where you are putting your stat points.

    It seems you switched spear and dual sword/axe descriptions.Should look like this:

    Spear:Average Dmg, fast attacking speed...
    Dual Sword/axe: Highest Dmg but Slow in attacking speed
