Still logged in after lagging out/logging out

There are times when I lag, and it seems to be happening more lately, and when i attempt to return to the game when my connection stabilizes, the client tells me i am still logged in.
Is there a way to dopeslap the server to make it realize i'm not really there, or can i at least have an estimated time frame on how long it takes "me" to log out of the system so i can get back in?
I just don't like coming back to PW after the system realizes i'm gone to find myself dead with the "Return to town" option on my screen...I don't know whether monsters kill me, or the system throws up it's virtual hands and Godkills my char simply just for lagging. I've been in a monsterless area and it still happens.
On a side note, this game handles lag alot better than another MMO I'm in that starts with Fly**. This game runs actually very smoothly, compared to that one, and i've been spending more time in PW because of it. You have my sincerest appreciation for that. Keep up the good work, I've really came to like this game.

Clicking the Safe Log checkbox before putting in your username and password will automatically terminate previous sessions on the server.
Are you on a wireless network connection, or using seperate router and modem devices? The server shouldn't disconnect your for latency under anything even approaching normal conditions.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Wow, this got a response pretty fast...
I'm using a wireless card, but the router attached to it is less than twenty feet away, a DSL connection.
Most of the time the server waits around 30 seconds or so, perhaps a little more before giving me the "Disconnected from server" box, but if the connection can restore itself, the game will go by really fast to make up for the thirty seconds of lost time then continue normally.0 -
Both TCP and 802.11 standards have retransmission capabilities by default, so unless you reach the 25 second default timeout, you'll end up with all the data one way or the other. A 25 second break in connectivity really isn't good, though.
Do you have any large metal objects or items that broadcast 2.4 Ghz electromagnetic interference (microwaves, some cordless phones, wireless surveillance cameras). If you're close to a car or cars, setting the wireless router to channels other than 6, 8, 9, or 11 can be a major help, although you'll need to check your router's manual to figure out if it can/how to do so. You'll also want to check your modem instruction manual or contact your ISP for instructions on how to set your DSL modem to Bridge mode if you have seperate modem and routers.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I'll have to look into that.
I'll post again when i get the info.0 -
I put the Bridge setting on, then was unable to do anything via the internet. Not sure why. Then i put it back, and here i am.
As for the router channel being changed, some brilliant person here lost the instruction book. I guess i'll have to call a tech guy from my ISP to come out and fix things with a hammer or something.0 -
The manual should be available in PDF format on the internet, although without knowing the model name and manufacturer I'd have no clue where to look. Bridge setting configuration of a modem can be... tricky so if you're not familiar with the technology calling your ISP is probably the best bet.
It should also fix other seemingly random errors with other online games or with internet connectivity.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
