Heavy Armor actually better than Light Armor?

I play archer. When I was lvl 23 or so (I'm 31 now), I had enough strength to wear both heavy and light chest armor. So I did. They were both normal npc bought armors. I went out to fight some mobs - I was wearing light chest armor - I switched to heavy chest armor - the monsters only did about 3 points less damage. It was like 3 less damage from a total of about 60 damage... I don't remember the exact numbers but it was something really insignificant.
I was thinking of making a heavy armor archer if I had enough spare points, but after I tried that, it seemed kinda pointless.
I can't test that again now since I don't have the points, but maybe some blade masters or barbarians can put on light armor of the same lvl and test it...

When you switch armors it will tell you what the difference is. If a moster does 60 damage and your changing armors increases your physical defense by 5% then that is a 3 damage difference. The numbers will get larger as opponents start to do more damage.0

Archers can only use light armor. That's it. An archer needs 3 dex per level to wear the latest weapons and to use the latest heavy armor u need like 5 str every 2 levels or something around that. So if you got 10 points in 2 levels:
6 would go to dex for latest weapon
and 5 would go to str for latest armor
that adds up to 11 too much.. Sure you can use lower level armor but most mobs have a ranged magic attack and it already does alot of damage with light armor and with heavy you are just gimping yourself even more. Warriors and barbarians use heavy armor good because they are close range attackers.0
