Some of the files needed went missing during my installation

You may need to re-download and install the game.

Download from one of the sources here:

http://perfectworld.com/download/client

Otherwise, you may wind up getting one of the 10+ other versions floating around on the net.

That's no good. What file names?

If they were part of the Perfect World installer itself, you'll probably need to either re-extract them from the zip file, or even redownload the file if it got corrupted during download (in the latter case, I'd suggest using the torrent and a robust torrent client to make sure you get ever file downloaded and error-checked).
