hello PWI comunity, i am wonderigng what steps Perfect World International has made to prevent people from using keyloggers and other programs to train for them. I hope they have made some, because this game is really the best, and i want to know that i have the opportunity to grow with the community at the same rate, and know we are all working hard to become successful and have great fun. Thanks guys! b:victory

You know, it's plain horse sense NOT TO TELL what your defenses are. :)

Not moch, I hope. A>ll the so-called "**** prevention" tools are completely useless, and just a major annoyance for normal users.

The only way to combat bots is manually. Have a simple reporting system for the players, and investigate "soon".

If it were my job (which it isn't), I'd make the ingame reporting record a record "account x has accused account y/character z of botting", and give the GMs a tool to output that database sorted by "how many different accounts have a reported an account". That way, all "I'll report you!" will be at the end of the list since there's just one entry (that should time out eventually), whereas real bots tend to end up on the top, and therefore get investiaged first.

Do you? While a Keylogger is generally a tool used to silently record keystrokes and transmit the data to a third party, it can also be used to set up and install macros, able to repeat the same actions endlessly in programs, games, and certain web applications. I am sure that would count as a "Bot"

Besides, I am sure he was referring to hacks and third party programs as a whole, not just Bots.

    To #4 Kargor

Won't work. Grinding places are crowded, so many have the habit to play in "autist mode" when fed up with all the whinning, arguing, non-sense, lewdness, and general insanity amongst other things.

That is, cutting all the channels including Local and masking other players, just to have peace.

People beeing what they are, they take offense of some unknown character that dares ignore their Oh-So-Great-Selves-Center-Of-The-All-Known-Universe, and will report the offender out of pettyness.

As a result, the staff members would have to sort out tons of diffamatory bull...t, which will make them tired, bitter, give them PMS and an attitude - and a bitter vengeful GM is worse than a cartload of bots.

Plus it will divert them from usefull tasks.

It would count as a Bot, i think. But in my opinion, what you describe isn't the common function of a Keylogger.
I think there is a difference between account safety (hidden use of keyloggers to spy someones account data) and protection from usage of macro applications (Bots).

I would like to know how to get into contact with CS because I have noticed 1 bot for sure and another character I really suspected of being a bot. I reported these characters but was not contacted in any way by CS and as far as I know they where not contacted either.

I reported each of these high (lvl45+) level bots more than once.

One was a barb and one was an archer.
