How do you find certain materials?

Do people usually just wander around the land for hours upon hours looking around for certain materials or is there an easier way? Maybe a map with mat locations or a guide. I'd buy my mats but most people sell em for an extremely high price which I cannot afford.

    its not really random, higher lvl areas have higher lvl mats. And they always spawn in the same area every 10mins.

    I have a list but its mesed up with chinese and my-en names.
