Hi, I've downloaded the game, but I want to know what class is best for a new person to the game, Which one would be easiest and so on, if possible could you post the pro's and con's of the classes? I have played several other MMORPG's for a few years, but am totally new to Perfect World!

Cool... I always want to ask that question, but I feel stupid when I do :-) And now here's a thread where someone else did it :-)

Just by looking at the names of the classes, I was going for Venomancer, Archer or Mage, still assuming that there's a dedicated PK server so I can also play on a non-PK server. As such, I don't need to be "good at PvP". For some reason I dropped the melee classes a good while back...

According to the list I don't need to look at Archers anymore --- "expensive to maintain" is bad for me, since I tend to entirely stay out of the trademutant business.

"Good AoE skill" probably implies that a party is needed, which makes the mage seem somewhat unattractive.

The Venomancer FAQ was talking a lot about "pets" --- still need to figure out what that means. It's not your bread-and-butter summoner class, I presume'? Still, "easy to level" --- because it's reasonably simple to get these pets, and they work well as tank so you can just nuke the target without being touched, as long as don't get too carefree?

So what's the catch then? Just the usual PvP weakness of any summon/pet class because players are ignoring your pets and go straight for the master?

EDIT: and while I'm at it... I guess the guides in the class forums are ok? Any other sites worth looking at, for maps, quests, descriptions of skills, whatever? Nowadays every game seems to have a wiki, and some of these are pretty good...
Yindra --- Lvl 64 Venomancer (Sanctuary)
Getting too grindy by now :-(

Cons-not that good at pvp (wrong, venos can be only of the best PvP classes if they're well played)

    Archer
    Pros-good in pvp
Cons-expensive to maintain / low def (archers aren't so expensive at all unless they AoE (zhen) party)

    Cleric
Pros-Can be very strong at pvp
Cons-hard to train (they can easily solo after lvl 35 with poison flying mobs)

    Barbarian
Pros-def high, a tanker, won't die easily at boss
Cons-low attack / hard to kill kill

    Blademaster
Pros-Nice skill / quite easy to train

I haven't played barbarian or blademaster, but I wrote in red what I think about your pros and cons.

http://www.1perfectworld.com/ is probably the best fansite/wiki out there for PWI / PW-MY. The class forums are good places to look for pro's con's of each class and build Ideals.

I personally dislike threads about "Best" Race/class for "New Player" / "Veteran" / "PvP" or whatever else. It is my experience that nearly any race/class can be effective/gimp in it's role depending on playstyle/skill of the Player.

Nobody can give you more than their personal Opinion, and honestly the number of people who believe something is true has no relevance to whether it will be true for you. My advise ..... Try a few possibles, find what you like, then *smiles* proceed from there
Perhaps the greatest secret to getting along with others lies in learning to respect their opinion(s) even while you disagree with them.

If you are unsure of what to be, get a bit of information and try the ones you like the sound of and then the ones you don't. Pick one you like a go with it. A few things to help you decide.

    - A char without good equipment to suplements their build will suck so don't class which one you like best without good equipment.
    - If you don't like fighting 3 - 10 monsters and then having to rest all the time and don't mind not being in parties very much the blademaster is not the class for you. Of course they can be customised to be better at solo but then it restricts your ability to PvP. Make sure you know what weapon type you want as this is one of the hardest choices to make in the game.
    - If you like to solo all the time be a venomancer (this is also regarded by many as the most fun class, but please don't try to debate me on this). Archer for second best solo, but alot of the time everyone benefits partying.
    - If you are a party person be a cleric or barbarian (barbarians tend to lead the party as they will have to drag and needs the conditions set to how they need them). Venomancer are liked in parties also as they have abilities to increase damage delt and so are mags as they deal most of the damage.
    - Choose a stat build depending on your play style, are you a PvP, party, or solo person. All char can be good at all if you have the right build (although solo is manly an option for veno unless you want to spend real money or have alot of time on your hads)
    - I VERY VERY HIGHLY +++ recomend following a guide for your stats and skills as this is a game where you can eally stuff them up. And STATS CAN NOT BE RESET EVER SO BE CAREFUL.
    - Any class can wear any amour if you modify yourself to wear it so don't restrict yourself. (V V H+++ recomend a guide for cross class amour). No class must stay strict to their main role.
    - Pure classes (e.g. Glass cannon and super tankbuilds) are very restricted as to what they can do in this game but are often very good at partying. (Pure int veno is very good at solo and party but is the very worst at PvP)
    - Blademaster and mage are late blumers, cleric and barbarian will have the most tough spots in the middle of the game but will always be wanted in parties so that will not be a problem.
    - If you are tossing up between two classes then do both intill you hit a level you can decide which or you can do both all the way.
    - People spending real money WILL have an advantage over you. You have to get over that or spend your own money.
    - Give this game to your friends and pay with them. That will give you more opions for party members and make certain classes more fun.

And that is the gist of it. The most important things are to remember are use guides and you can customise your class to what suits you. If you want to have the most fun on the way their make a build for leveling, if you want to have more fun at the end of the game make a build for PvP, use good equipment and don't stuff up your stats.

You can reset your stats. You just need real money to do so.
