the game lags on me

It been an while since I played since ever time the game lags to the point I can't play.
I ready try it again, is there anyway to fix this problem?

    try setting your Game Overall to the lowest, maybe that will work. Should access it from the menu or Pressing F and the ">>" key at the bottom.
