Pet class and elemental attacks

I posted this elsewhere but would really like to know if I'm on the right track with these questions.

I'm just curious, shouldn't the elemental attack type come into play at some point with a pet? Why would perfect world take the time to explain what element defeats the other if it's not a consideration? Wouldn't you need a wood pet to defeat an earth attacker, or a metal pet to defeat a wood type and so on? That would also explain the need for more spaces in your pet bag wouldn't it?

Just an observation.

Pets lose their element orientation once they're tamed. You can however, teach any pet any of the 5 elemental skills you like, and they work like bash, except their physical attack is converted into magic damage. You never really need a pet with an elemental attack to kill something of an opposite element, but it will make things quicker for you.

How do you teach a pet new skills? and/or upgrade it's current skills? The skill tree shows that pets can upgrade some skills at level 20, and even after leveling my pets over 20 I still can't find the option to increase their skills, or add new ones. The Pet trainer "Pet Skills" option says I need a book? Where would I get the needed book? or am I doing something wrong?

Go to Archosaur and talk to the zoologist, I believe it's 200k to 300k to teach them the new skill.

Anyone know where the fruit for the pet bag extension is found?

I hadn't actually gotten high enough level to test it myself before, but according to lists, pteradactuyls are supposed to have a nice rate of drop. I didn't get any, but eh. Probably wasn't patient enough, or it was the wrong kind.

There's a thread with database links in the Crafing area. Check there for the Fruit.
