So I know it's best to just train a water pet whenever you need one, but should I do the same for flying pets? I think it would make more sense to just focus on my golem

    you would "max" your golem very fast so most of the time its sitting at 99.9 EXP and waiting for u to hit the next level.

    you can technically max 3 pets at the same time to be at the same lvl as u.

    Go ahead and get a Sawfly as well. Right now I have a Sawfly and Golem. Sometimes it seems like you're not gonna be able to level them cause of quests leveling you too fast (at lower levels), but it'll balance out.
