Normal players don't have most of their "normal player" freedom taken from them, and are required to edit and read every single thread and post made. Then decide weather to close it/edit any unnecessary information.

Mods deserve them. So b/c she is my guild member that makes my opinion wrong since clearly I am only saying it b/c of us being in the same guild.........

I agree I really wish we could have custom avatars but I bet the reason mods get to have them and we dont is b/c our posts are not really monitored in a sense we can stick up for ourselves, mods cannot. Mods pm's are also monitored along with every single post they make. Their power limits are monitored in the effect they don't use it for the wrong purposes. They work for PWI voluntarily, the avatars are a way of paying them back for the work they put into the forums and the chains they have around their ankles. In other words being a mod takes away a lot of privileges that us normal forum posters take for granted.

Things mods CANT do:

-Stick up for yourself
-Tell ppl to stfu when they are being annoying
-Close or delete posts based on personal opinions.
-Have any privacy via PM's.
-Harrassed constantly by random forum posters via PM or posting.
-Have an opinion about PWI unless its "against" them, b/c people will bash you and say you only think that way b/c you are a mod.
-Have people get jealous and say you only got the position due to various unethical reasons.
-Post freely knowing someone is not breathing down your neck checking to make sure you arnt abusing your power in any way.

Those are only a few differences between mods and regular posters. A fair amount of that is why I think its beyond a doubt fair for them to have custom avatars.

Also mods dont have those normal freedoms by choice. They werent forced into being mods. They knew what they were "losing" when they said they would be one. So they still dont deserve special privilges because they are "limited" on the forums. They choose to make themselves limited.

I wasn't saying you where flaming me in that post. I was merely hinting to not flame in the coming ones you are going to make.
Also yes in game the mods are normal players just like the rest of us, but they also do not get what I stated above and the rest of us do, is that fair to them? clearly they dont have the same privileges as we do. They deserve to have their own avatars.

I think you need to look in the thread I made about custom avatars before hinting at me not to flame, Its why I now have to repost my opinions in this thread.

another avatar thread completely derailed.

what have we learned today?....The likelihood of users getting custom avatars will likely never happen. Most of the reasons for this have already have been mentioned in this thread. Also, the fact that we allow custom sigs is more then a fair compromise.

As for our Community Moderation Specialists (all 3 of them), for the time being we are allowing them to use (tasteful) custom avatars of their choice. At some point down the line we may require them to use a standardized "Moderator" avatar but in the grand scheme of things this item isn't exactly at the top of a very long 'to do' list.
