Game difficulty concerns

Well I started a couple days ago, currently level 21, and I can't seem to accomplish anything.
I prefer to solo, so I dont have to look for a party every time I want to finish a quest.
But I chose to be a mage, and its impossible to do anything.
Sure the damage is good, but its no more than any other class at that level, when you take into consideration the cast time.
I was getting annoyed having to use the best hp pots possible at my level for every monster I killed, so I chose to put some points in str/dex so I could upgrade from light to medium armor.
The difference was unnoticable.
So I'm pretty sure I've messed up my character.
Essentially, I have 450hp, 600 P.def, and the monsters I need to kill for quests beat me in less that 4 hits. I'm at the point now where I need to use 2 of the best hp pots possible for my level for every monster I kill.
Meditating takes 3 minutes to heal hp from empty to full =/.
I think its best that I give up on the character until I have better equipment for it at its level, so my question is this:
What is the best/easiest soloer? Something I can actually accomplish tasks with, just an easy noob to use.
And do all low levels have this sort of trouble? Or is the damage I'm taking just the fact that I'm a mage.
If anyone has a class suggestion, as well as a stat distribution I should use for a noob, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Go use a barbarian or blademaster. Melee is the best way for noobs. *I'm not saying those classes are for noobs, just saying that those are the easiest class to play in all MMORPG*

    Benefits of either Blademaster/Barbarian?
And what should I distribute my stats as?
(If you have any idea) XD

In order to wear light armor you'll either be lacking an up to date weapon or armor, or have **** hp. Wizards are tied with clerics for the lowest hp gain per level, so putting points into vitality is usually recommended. Vitality also controls your hp regeneration speed, so if you leave it low you'll find yourself sitting for a very, very long time at later levels (or burning hp pots).

Wizards can be a solo class, but in all honesty having a faction or group would help out immensely when you've got quests that you can't manage solo. Are you in the PvP server? Because if you aren't, you'll find less use for light armor on a wizard.

It doesn't take too long to reach level 21, and if you don't want to spend real money I'd suggest starting a new character with better stat distribution if you don't like your current standing. While non-robe armor is tempting at the beginning of the game because of the vast majority of physical attack mobs, it'll make life a bit more complicated for you at later levels.

At low levels these two classes are much more straightforward and idiot-proof, but if you intend to play for a long period of time (and eventually stop being a newb) you'll want to learn and plan ahead. If you like magic classes they're not too hard to learn either. I don't play as either class much, but from a solo point of view I'd recommend a blademaster, as barbarians can fit the stereotype of WoW paladins and sandwiches...

Nah. Best solo class is definitely the venomancer. You will never require a potion as your pets tank everything for you not to mention it's easy as hell

I have no idea which server I'm on :P.
And ya I'm not too pleased with my current standing, so I guess I'll fiddle around with melee builds.
Try out a blademaster and hope for the best.
Still not too sure on what stats I should be going with.
I'm assuming to reset your stats you need to pay real money?
If so, does anyone know how much it would cost?

So I should just go mostly Strength venomancer?
(If strength effects the pets attack damage)

No. Each pet has it's own stats while venomancer herself is a mage. For leveling best build is every 2 levels 1 str and rest int or you could add a bit vit for more hp if you want but if only thing you want is to level fast then just int

Veno is definately the way to go for solo play.

IMO they are the easiest race to make money with too, as they use less potions/pots and have little need for uber armor for normal gameplay.

The best solo'er in game is definitely a venomancer. They're also a good class to make money with. You should try creating a venomancer and play with it for a little to see if you like it. I would put most stats to int, and enough str to use equipments.

    By the way, mages are definately a known class to die easily, especially on lower levels. o_o;

As a mage you need to learn how to "kite". ie keep your distance from the monster so it cant close to hit you.
The water spell that slows them down is your friend. Cast that and run back between casts. It takes a while to get the hang of it.

Also mages get a heal spell eventually, for the occasional scratch you get when the water spell gets resisted or whatever.

I would agree though that going light armor is a mistake (tho no doubt some would disagree with me). Mages need to kill fast. The less spell you need to kill a mob, the less chance it will close distance and smack you around. Im a believer in the "glass canon" approach. A little bit in vitality so you can take a couple of hits, enough strength to wield your weapons and armor, and the vast bulk in intelligence (think its called mag on this server).

The only time it will get tough is with water mobs, where you movement is slowed and you cant kite well.

I wouldnt give up on it, but I would be looking at a respec.
