Fom the Q & A thread :
With the incoming patch on the MY server, they'll be much more in advance than here :
- More events (where are the daily races? the arena event? the dragon palace event?)
- Much more cash shop items
- More monsters
- More equipment available.
So can you tell us why you are not the "most up to date english version" as you promised?
And please, don't come up up with the silly "we are in open beta" excuse...
Q : How much up-to-date will this version be compared to others English version in other countries?
A : We are the direct subsidiary of Beijing Perfect World. If anyone is going to have the most up to date English version, it would make sense that it's Perfect World Entertainment. (Xarfox)

I think PWE will have the same item mall stuff as Cubinet.
PWE decides not to publish all of them simutaneously.
I remembered Cubinet had the new Item mall stuff a long time also but they weren't allowed to publish from Beijing. I guess PWE have to follow the same strategy -> slowly open up all the item mall stuff.0 -
Already wanting NEW stuff? I still need to get my hands on some of the OLD stuff.
However, I would like to see regular updates to the Item Mall. Like 2 or 3 items every 1 or 2 weeks is fine with me.0 -

Actually, that is a perfectly valid excuse. They are still doing translations, working on server stability and generally trying to establish a solid foundation. You can try to prepare things all you want, but they can not test loaded servers internally or instantly translate and catch all issues that arise. I expect once Perfect World International officially launches, we'll get a few more features, items in the cash shop and more polish all around. Every game wants a launch people people look forward to, after all. It is still beta for a reason.0 -

Currently, this version is the least up to date of the available ones in english.
Open beta my eye. This game have been tersted for a few millions hours by a few millions players already, There is nothing to test further.
On MY, the horse race event was implemented the first day they opened.
On MY, the dragon palace event was implemented the first day they opened.
On MY, they had much mores tuff in the cash shop than we curently have.
This version is way more behind MY even when they opened in november 2007...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I totally agree, MY had the same CS in CB in nov 2007. Why are we getting one or two more items here and there? If u wana remove stuff from the CS then take away the boring ugly fashions and put new cool things in there!
Fix the EVENTS!! holy shoot man, the arena event is broken, dragon palace is broken, no horse races?
Comon man whats going on here? At least give us feedback on the forums like "we are currently working on: ........., and ................. will be implimented in the next patch"0 -

I think people should realize that those are just statements and not complete promises that they will magically have the up-to-date working english version of the MY client within 2 seconds of its release. Either way, I guess it's a bit typical for people in the gaming world to demand more, but you have to realize that unless you work in the gaming industry and know all the ropes, it's takes a LOT of work to do even relatively "simple-looking" transitions from one language into another.
Need proof? Look at how bugs still exist in this version of PW. It isn't a flawless change--it takes time. There's a reason why we're in OPEN BETA and not even a finalized version yet which is usually where a game has to be before it starts moving on with new content updates. You agreed to join the Open Beta TESTING phase of the game. Live with it. It is a fact of playing games that originated in different languages for us to wait longer since we don't have as much priority.
Still think I'm BSing with this Open Beta stuff? Just look at the other examples of asian originating games that had to make the transition to global/english versions. Though the situation varies they too did not immediately have access to the new goods until at least they were finished Open Beta. It is a sensible way of managing a company branching out to other nations to first make sure you test the product out in order to have it running at 100% capacity before you try adding more to it. Why? Because if you rushed towards the end you would have an unfinished product full of even more bugs which would give a bad opening image and make people whine. Ironically though if they spend more time fixing these bugs before going gold, people still whine. Funny isn't it?
Now if you want to argue otherwise, show me your experience or superior knowledge in marketing and managing a business and I will humbly reconsider what I say here.
That being said, an interesting thing to note here is it seems you haven't even read that statement you quoted properly. If you read what they said carefully it said that if anyone else were to have the most up-to-date ENGLISH version, it would be this version. Not once did they mention the english version would be 100% up-to-date with the MY version. Talk about a logical fallacy. I advise you think before you speak. The gaming industry is a lot more complex than even how I make it to sound, so don't go off on an arrogant rant about how you deserve more.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Dude, wtf are you talking about? Perfect World Malaysia - ENGLISH came out with more stuff in game and in item mall in OPEN BETA. The thread starter is 100% correct.
To my understanding, even if it has the word english in it, it still is the malaysian version, meaning a large core of it probably doesn't differ much from the actual MY version. I imagine that it even isn't as time-consuming to make that kind of transition than it is for this. Don't forget that this PWI is managed by its own company all the way across the world while I'm pretty sure the main guys back there run all variations of the MY version (which have their own set of priorities). My claims about how long it takes for things to make that international change through testing still hold unless you know more about running businesses than I do.
So let me ask you this: "Dude, wtf are you talking about?" unless you have something more substantial to say than an assumption and an hell of an aggressive attitude. Remember, I didn't say I was entirely correct, but rather that you guys should think a bit before blurting out those kind of meaningless requests/attacks. Maybe I was wrong about the interpretation of that one statement because I don't know as much of the other versions of the game--oh no, there goes the world--I'm insane! Realize that regardless of that, it does not make the person 100% correct in saying he that he knows everything and that OB is a pathetic excuse + the PW staff aren't doing as much for us. That was my main point but it seems you'd rather attack that instead.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

cash shop items will appear one by one,
for example, there are only limited mounts available in the shop, as time goes, they will put in more mounts which look cooler or run faster, so you have to spend another 15+ bucks on them. this way they can make money on you continously.0 -

Bro, where are experience scrolls? If i hosted a PW server the first three items going in the cash shop are hierograms, dolls, and experience scrolls. The simple fact alone that there is no experience scrolls in the cash shop shows how slack it is and severely out of date. I cannot play without experience scrolls. Yes, I get you guys are frustrated but somehow I am amazed that a lot of you have ignored what I said earlier and continue to antagonize anyone who says something a little more thoughtful. I said 2 main things that mattered. Let me repeat them for you because you're again assuming things without much knowledge of the situation.
1.) PW-MY and any other variation that is over there obviously have more priority because I'm pretty sure its easier to make the transition since they're all generally closely linked towards the original client. Not only that, but I bet they're also managed by the original parent company. We, on the other hand have PWI that is run entirely on its own as a part of the original here in North America. There are always big obstacles in making the 100% FULL transition to a proper english client and of course the main delay is often related to different priorities and of course a lot of work.
Realize that they aren't snoozing off while we wait for something to come. We ARE STILL in the early stages of Open Beta meaning it is totally legitimate for them to take longer just to give out content to us since it has to be fully tested. I'm sure they have a plan to do this which ensures that things are properly tested, and well configured for release before it actually gets to us. That's just how I see it after through my experience with a lot of Open Beta's for games as well as some simple management logic I know from my job IRL. Care to comment on that? Be my guest if you have anything intellectual to say about it. I can't say I speak for the company but the trends I've seen in the gaming market highly suggest a situation like this.
2.) A lot of games are like this upon release. There are different priorities and PW is no exception from what we're seeing. If the game was based in North America to begin with we wouldn't have this problem but it isn't. You knew what you were going into by joining this game, especially since it's in Open Beta and yet you all still complain about every single facet of a game. Games are supposed to be for enjoyment and relaxation (I guess depending on how you see it) but this totally tips it off with you guys saying they're running the game into the ground and sleeping on all the issues. Unless you directly know how they're running the company instead of a LOT of aggressive assumptions with no intelligent basis, I suggest you don't say much at all.
Other than that, I surprised at how you say you absolutely need cash shop items to play a game. Yes, it may be very useful to play the game faster, but that's how MMO's are. You may as well play a P2P game if you can't find any other way to play this game, because it's blatantly obvious there's grinding involved. It should be easy for you to notice that there are multiple ways of avoiding the heavy use of those such as partying and guilds, but of course I'm not one to say how you play. Just because they haven't supplied those YET with legitimate reasons as to why doesn't warrant you the excuse of calling them completely incompetent.
That being said, I never really was giving an attitude here, but I do admit my messages sounded aggressive in order to counteract the equally aggressive assumptions. It seems you are the one with the attitude. I'm just a simple casual gamer that felt that the assumptions had to be cleared up a bit. Are there problems with the way things are handled right now? Are there bugs? Are we slower than the other versions atm? Sure, but I have patience, I have a life, and it doesn't matter much knowing that they're working on it and that the game itself is already quite enjoyable.
Best of luck "enduring" the actual game I suppose.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Failed. No version is run by the original company except two. Cubinet, like all the others, paid to acquire a licence to run PW server. They are in no way related to Bejing PW co.We, on the other hand have PWI that is run entirely on its own
Failed again. PWE is a subsidiary company of Bejing PW co.Realize that they aren't snoozing off while we wait for something to come. We ARE STILL in the early stages of Open Beta

Failed a fourth time (you're getting good at it). Almost no game code have to be modified. All they have to do is translate text. And put outragous prices on cash shop items. And most of the game code changed must be in regard with the cash shop and zen buying.
BTW, the coding is done at Bejing PW Co and they send in the patches.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

You do a good job correcting me on facts but on nothing else, and like I said it sure is you guys who seem to have the attitude. I will say I'm new to PW and haven't played in the other servers hence my limited knowledge, however it doesn't change the fact that I was only trying to point out some other things. Obviously I got some things wrong here but that doesn't really matter...the main issues stand. You guys apparently like to attack the little things but ignore the bigger statements like I made in my 2nd point there in that post. I'm not trying to compete with you on who knows more about the facts, but rather state that you guys demand for way too much when you don't know the whole story of how gaming companies run things.
I'm kind of tired even bothering to get through to you, but I'll clarify on some things:Failed. No version is run by the original company except two. Cubinet, like all the others, paid to acquire a licence to run PW server. They are in no way related to Bejing PW co.Failed again. PWE is a subsidiary company of Bejing PW co.
Failed.
The point of me saying that was to show that either way the PW versions there are managed by their own set of management groups other than this one. I didn't know for sure which is why I left room for change. Did I fail at making that point? I guess so since you decided to point out the factual evidence instead. Management varies for each different PW version of course but it still doesn't change the fact that their priorites are all different, where the ones over there obviously have more priority. By tradition in just about every game I've played, the international or N.A versions always take longer unless they are completely on their own, which you yourself said it wasn't. It still stands that there are reasons as to why it is expected for us to not get the instant content. Do I like the reasons? No, but that's besides the point here...Realize that they aren't snoozing off while we wait for something to come. We ARE STILL in the early stages of Open Beta
Failed once again. PW-MY had much more stuff in their version at the opening of open beta on november 22, 2007. I should know, I was there. Apparently you were not.
Failed once again.
Of course I wasn't there, I never said I was. If you actually read the thread you quoted you would've found that I was a casual gamer that liked to enjoy the games instead of complaining about everything without actually thinking. Anyway it doesn't matter as I drew from most of the information posted here.
That said, how have I failed when I was correct in that they aren't sleeping on the job? They're definitely working on something but it's taking them time to do so. I doubt they're lazy. Heck if they were, they could've made CB last a lot longer but they shortened it and made the delay in between CB to OB shorter as well. They could've also pushed back the CB & OB dates way back to the end of this year if they wanted to come out with all of that already, but it looks to me that they wanted us to experience the game before we get the taste of the rest. There are longer dates for OB and shorter ones for reasons, and just because we're in OB doesn't mean it's the same OB the MY versions had in terms of early prep. time before going public.
So again stop bashing the facts since I repeat: I don't stand for staff at all in what I'm saying. This is all my take on it from my own experience. I could be wrong in that category but the points still remain about people like you. I just wanted to provide some greater insight aside from that realm of thinking.meaning it is totally legitimate for them to take longer just to give out content to us since it has to be fully tested.
Failed a third time (you're getting good at it).
This is exactly what I mean by how you only attack the wording here and not actually think about what you're saying or what kind of point I was getting across. That entire line I quoted had nothing to do with the specifics but that it is (and it still IS) totally legitimate for a game to spend its time giving us more content since it is in a beta stage. Does that leave room for being an excuse? Of course it does. Is PWI like that right now? Hell it's debatable and my reason for being here is to simply tell you guys that it's not that one-sided. Obviously there are existing problems--I never said there weren't any. Give some lee-way instead of barging in thinking you're the master of the universe and have the authority to talk down an entire organization of companies trying to please you through providing its gaming services. Yes you do have the right to voice your opinion to them, but this kind of meaningless blabber and rebuttals hardly are something constructive....
Recognize that even though it seems simple enough to translate text, there's a reason why they need a team of people to manage this and coordinate things. There's more involved in a final release of a product than just simply doing things like that. What is it to be specific? I wouldn't know but I sure as hell know that it's a lot more than just translating. You should know that shouldn't you? It blatantly complicates things and takes longer to do. Add that in with different priorities, debugging, general support and more and it takes even longer.
But regardless, do you have the right to question their efficiency and decision making? Sure you are, but as I said, do it in a more constructive manner than a thread so simplistic as this that does nothing but look like you're a typical whiner which I know you're not.
Other than that I do hope you all take a bit more of an objective view of things here--that was my goal all along--maybe I should've said it in the first place. Either way I'm pretty much done here as it's getting meaningless to continue on--I'd rather just enjoy playing the actual game. However I do wish you luck in persuading them to do whatever, though a more formal and appropriate approach might help in ensuring your voice is heard as it should be.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Lol if your boss sais "just wait a while you'll get your paycheque next month.. or later... maybe" does that seem like a reasonable request?
Ive played priv servers before(yea yea i know, thats not the point here) with custom cash shops and its ridiculously easy and FAST to make a great, fully stocked, cash shop. If enthusiasts from the general public that have nothing to do with the beijing company can write tools to edit and modify the cash shop and have a great CS running in a matter of days, why the HELL does PWE have to take months to get it right?!!?!
Maybe they need to go ask some of the illegal server guys to give them a hand.
Also this nonsense with the server running on one timezone and the events on another has been delt with in priv servers MONTHS ago.
The fact is, progress is going a bit slow and we're not even being told whats being done about it - if anything! At least admins can update the news section with "current projects being worked on" for crying out loud. And if it really is technical expertise thats the problem why don't you go look at the forums of the "illegal" comunities for ideas to solve ur probs cos clearly waiting for beijing isnt the fastest option.0 -
even the cn edition didn't release everything at the same time, it took months before they even added anything new in the cs, and they're still slowly rolling out new stuff. and ob here has only been a couple of weeks, geez~ comparing this to delayed paychecks is just silly. and plz, don't compare this to any of the p servers, there's a reason why they don't last.0

True, true... But don't forget something. If others english version are more up to date, it will be hard to compete with them.
IRL comparison :
One Toyota car seller is selling 2009 models while the other is lagging behind selling 2005 car models.
And in top of that, the one selling the 2005 models sells them three times higher than the one selling the 2008 models. Where will people buy their cars?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
