The update servers.

The Kin knows the game is still fresh and all. Today, The Kin has run into his first problem that he feels he needs to voice, and it's not the cash shop. That horse has been beaten, killed, beaten some more and then put at a burial at sea with a gnome beating on it's carcass continually.
No, this complaint is about the update servers. The Kin has tried everything that has usually worked for him, and today, when opening Perfect World, it prompted for an update. For the last 3 hours, The Kin has been stuck at the tasks.data file. The Kin has tried deleting the file, restarting the patcher, tweaking the settings, you name it, it's been tried. This is severely annoying as it's been like this for 3 hours now. When it DOES finish, it's saying something about a file error, in the few times that it does finish that is.
No offense, but the Kin's connection is fine. He has been playing for a while ever since it came out, and although there were a few speed bumps with some patches, this is the first "game stopping" encounter the Kin has come up to.Now The Kin has no idea what's wrong with you guys update servers, but it either A, needs to be reset and reconfigured, or B. Scrapped and a new one bought. Seriously, this is ridiculous.

the problem is on your end. I'm not having any issues connecting to the game at all.
If even ONE person can connect without problem, it means that it's your client side problem.Played in the beta, got so burnt out I quit for almost a year. Moderate your game time folks!0 -
Wrong. The Kin hasn't had any problems at all until now. Utorrent, browsers, all of it works. The problem is a file appears to be causing it that we're getting from the update server. The Kin had to delete the tasks.data for the 2389083th time and it FINALLY just now worked.0

Uh, if you got it working that proves it was a fault on your end.
That and, you know, the thousands of people playing the game.
Also, the Kin is VERY annoying.PVE is lame.0 -
speaking in third person on a message board is epic fail, sorry.Played in the beta, got so burnt out I quit for almost a year. Moderate your game time folks!0

Stop attacking The Kin's way of speaking. The issue at hand is there shouldn't be these types of problems consistently. They should have been resolved by now. The thing is, you shouldn't have to delete a file over and over again with every single update. Not only that, when the servers aren't backed up, you shouldn't have to refresh the connection every time at the elements or task data. If there was something wrong with The Kin's end, then it would eventually affect some other programs and / or games. None of that has happened yet.0

The Kin needs to stop referring to himself in the 3rd person lest The Kin appear to everyone to be A ****0 -
Submit in technical problems The Kin must, for submit in general chat, only flaming will The Kin find. Do or do not, there is no try young Kin.

Are you by chance the same PeaceAndLove from the RF forums that Codemasters hosted? Your typing style and instantaneous resort to flames makes the Kin believe so.
Regardless of what you post, the fact isn't that there ARE people on. It's the fact that it's an on going issue that people have had getting updates and patches to get on. Read what the Kin is saying before you repeat yourself like a broken record. Here, the Kin will make it easier to read for you.
You should not have to constantly delete a file from your folder just to update the game correctly every time a new patch comes out. That is not a problem on the user end, but the server. There's some bad juju with that file apparently and deleting it resolves that issue, sometimes it just takes multiple deletions to get it to work. That is what needs to be fixed as it's causing multiple people to lock up on the patches over and over again, and fixing it is a nightmare at times. Sometimes you have to delete the file multiple times to get it to patch so you can log on. THAT is the issue that needs to be resolved. It took three and a half hours to get it to patch and log on. If deleting that file remedies that, albeit multiple deletions at times, then it is a file that is being transferred FROM the server, thus it is not really a client side issue, more so than a server side.0 -
Hmm the only suggestion I can think of is download the manual patch, if you haven't already. When I first tried to update the client, I got stuck at tasks.data / elements.data too, forgot which. But after I downloaded this manual patch: http://files.filefront.com/interfaceszip/;11750045;/fileinfo.html, and replaced the task.data file with the one in there, I was able to update the client.0
