Ok I am having some issues with my computer right now I will go into detail about both of them!

1. My screen keeps flickering on and off if I move it a certain way, I can still see some detail when it go's off and everything els functions just fine (sound / movies etc) I just cant see anything other than a dull outline.

2. I try to downgrade my computer to Windows XP since for some reason whenever I install my Nvidia drivers (after removing a virus this happend) I restart my computer and the screen is blank but I can still hear the sound of it starting up. Not to mention once I try to boot my computer from the disk it starts to move the files etc. then when I tell it to install Windows XP it comes up with this error saying my Hard disk is off that I should turn it on. I am so confused at what to do!!!

I found out that problem number 1 and problem number 2 are not related because when I roll back my display drivers so that it is the bare bones of the on board GC (Standard VGA adapter) the screen works fine but I still have issues with problem number 1. For this reason i have not been able to play any video games and i am trying to find a fix can anyone help me?

EDIT: My problems have nothing to do with my Graphics Card, me and my husband already ruled that out!
(He is helping me troubleshoot my computer, He really knows A LOT about them not to mention he used to work for DELL as tech support the highest lvl support lvl 3 or something like that, but I am getting impatient since he's at work most of the day so I wanted to try and fix it myself with advice from all of you)

If you need anymore details please let me know. I am at a loss at what to do b/c I dont have any blank DVD's to burn Vista to and my Recovery disk that came with my laptop (ASUS laptop) is not working when I try to boot from it.

First thing I would try to do is roll back your computer using the built-in Windows System Restore program. Set it back to a date when you knew everything was working fine. This carries the risk that any viral infection you had at the time might also be restored (do you know what virus it was?) and may need to be removed again. It may have damaged your boot sector.

    Yeah did that a few times actually the virus I had was "Windows antivirus 2008" the most annoying thing ever but anyway it removed all my system restore points so I cant even roll back to the day I got my computer. The lowest I could go was August 28th >_<;;;

    Ahhh, one of those. ****.

I'll tell you what, download and install HijackThis: http://www.merijn.org/programs.php
Run it, choose Run Scan and Save a Log File, and post the log up here (or PM if you'd prefer). I'll take a look and first make sure there's nothing else malicious running on your system that may be preventing things from running properly.

Well everything looks fine there. No signs of any malicious activity.

Now, when you try to install Windows XP - are you attempting to overwrite Windows into the same directory, or are you going to set up a dual boot with both XP and Vista (by installing XP into it's own unique directory)?

Edit: for Trend Micro, it looks like some of the core background services are still running, even though the program is not. You may be able to just stop them by going through Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

My husband would probably answer this better, all I did was follow his directions he set my computer to boot automatically from the disc, when I tell it to boot from disk it starts loading all the xp files (blue screen) then it says to start Windows xp press enter so I do, once I press it, it tells me the Hard disk is off. But I basically just follow what it tells me to do.

I know I sound like a total n00b everything I have posted so far is what I've learned from my husband and he is at work right now so i cant really answer that question clearly.

Hmmm, ok. I wonder why the hard disk is off, or at least why Windows is saying it's off...

Right-click your desktop, select Properties, click onto Screen Saver, then the Power button under Monitor Power.

There's an option there for turning off hard disks... what is yours set to?

Well... I've never encountered the hard disk being turned off during installation. That's a new one to me. >_<
I think you're best off waiting for your husband, to be honest. This is the kind of thing where I'd really need to be in front of your computer to investigate properly. =\
