Turning armors into mats?

My friend last night mentioned if you picked up the four crafting skills (blacksmith, tailoring, apothecary, craftmans), you would be able to turn discarded armor that mobs drop into materials. For the life of me, I can't find out where this is and since I don't know the proper name, I can't find it via Google. I've talked to the Elder and he seems to have no additional skills for me. My friend is offline or else I would ask him (Been waiting a few hours for him to come on...)

Any one know what I am talking about? What's the skill called and where do I go to learn it? Heck, even telling me the skill name would be a lot of help - I'm unusually clever enough to find it out on my own.

Thank you for your help and sorry to be another newbie swarming the forums with questions.

NM. Friend was apparently wrong and mislead me x_X; No wonder no one has any idea what I'm talking about hehe.

    for crafting skills, u can learn at lv 5 at the elder. When u lv 5 u can take the quest at the elder, after that u just do those quests. Remember buying the pickaxe at merchant, because u need to colect the log, iron, stand ... After finish those quests (4 quests), u wll get 4 books and just going to the elder and learn crafting skills. Thats it.

    at certain crafting levels, you can dissemble up to certain grade armor/ weapons/ accesories. These turn into little stones that you can use at the pharmacist to create atk-up or def-up scrolls.
    you cannot take armor// weapons/ accesories and turn them back into stones or other materials though.
