My impressions

When I first heard about perfect world on gamespot and saw what it looked like I was more than impressed. I have never really got into the MMO world until this game. I have been playing it now since closed beta started and I must say, I am hooked. Because this is a closed beta I am not going to respond as if it is a full finished product. But as it stands now it more than meets my expectations and has already giving me hours of entertainment. I have played many games and none of them have I seen my self investing more time than I did in Diablo 1 and 2. This game really has a chance to keep me playing for a long time to come. My paths have crossed with a lot of free 2 play games; I even have a website dedicated to free games. This game sets its self apart from other free to play games and feels more like a retail game than a free to play game. If this is a sign of things to come for free 2 play games then we are all in for a treat. Not only does this game have A LOT of content and great character classes to chose from and play. But it also has a superb community and a great staff to back them up. I am in anticipation for open beta and look forward to the loads of hours I am going to invest in this game. I hope to see you all in game.

    Glad you say so. PW did raise Asian MMO to a higher level, at least in graphic, mapping, and tracking systems. Later products of Beijing PW are more and more improved. You can test Wulin2 (QWorld), Zhu Xian, and Chibi now to see...
    But most players complain about PW gameplay ^^, me too. There is so many quests when the game start, then less and less after level 45... So much grinding make you tired. This apply for player who want to level fast, and then join TW or PVP. If they can give more XP in instant dungeons, this game could be more fun. ^^
    If you want to enjoy the game, just do quests. Asking for help in tough boss quest, then do daily quest to level. You will feel just like WOW ^^. Please don't compare PW with WOW or AOC, tons of flame is waiting for you...
    But stay away from PVP server, so much drama. But if you love drama, see you there ^^.

    It does seem more like a retail game. Because it used to be. It was subscription based back in China, but it failed. So it got downgraded to cash shop, got features (housing) stripped out, PvE encounters were unbalanced so people would buy hierograms. It's sad that they chose to ruin it this way instead of working on some endgame content so people wouldn't cancel their subscriptions.

    Also you haven't experienced endgame yet. Content runs out at 40. That means no more quests, aside for the daily dose generic kill 300 violent rats of the apocalypse that barely gives you 5% to next level. Classes get pigeonholed into specific roles and their gameplay becomes tedious or nonexistent (lol afk healing, afk aoe parties). Gimmicks and novelties become old, fast. The crafting system gets rendered pointless by green HH gear. Most aspects of the game that were genuinely fun die out by 60 when having cash shop items takes precedence over any form of skill and knowledge of your class.

    Keep in mind the first levels are made to get you hooked for when the game turns bad. This is the case for all f2p mmos, and this one, while even I have to agree it's a notch above the average Korean grinder, isn't an exception. In the future, take all mmos, especially f2p ones with a grain of salt. I'm not saying this to discredit the game, just giving you a heads up as a fellow gamer.
