When i click on the launcher for PW this virus warning comes up saying.... Windows Defender detected programs that might compromise your privacy or damage your computer. The name of it is called: TrojanDownloader:Win32/Agent. It gives me the choice to remove all/review/ignore. Why does this happen everytime i launch it?

I have this same problem. I did a little searching and it seems its a file that checks the program at startup. So it could be that the Windows Defender is messed up and sees it as Trojan when it infact isnt (none of my other antivir/malware stuff doesnt find it as trojan), or it indeed is a virus in the patcher. Official answer would be nice to have.

Just as more info, this is what Microsoft says about the file http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Entry.aspx?name=TrojanDownloader%3aWin32%2fAgent&threatid=14992

TrojanDownloader:Win32/Agent is an incredibly generic name for a threat. Basically that's use for any potential threat that exhibits those properties.

It flags it as a possible trojan because it's a program that connects to a remote server in order to download files. This is also what a trojan does to download a virus. The game patcher is doing exactly what it was designed to do, but that doesn't make it malicious. Windows Defender is just alerting you to the fact that you have this type of program running, so that if you didn't authorize it, you can stop it.

So, in short - it would be safe to ignore it. If you have any concerns, run a full spyware and/or virus scan.

Thanks for the confirmation, was pretty sure its just Defender being weird since AVG nor Spybot S&D cant find anything wrong in my PC :)
