When the heck does CB start!?

So we've come to the conclusion that closed beta does NOT start when the countdown says, and Ryuuzaki the moderator says that he doubts it actually starts at midnight that day, so we can't even calculate when it actually DOES come out.

Can we get an official admin's word on this please? This is kind of a big deal, these details should have been released weeks ago and if someone is made a moderator they should have definitely been informed of something as important as this.

I agree completely, This info should have been released awhile back. I too would like an official Admin statement on this, Because I want to know when I can log on, and how long I should wait so I miss the lagfest.

that clock on the homepage apparently uses your computer's internal clock, so you could set it to the 19th and it would say 0 time left.

Just wait and see. I'll trust the timer, personally, and if there's any changes to the release, then I'll look here to find out the truth as there will almost certainly be an official announcement if something is wrong.

The timer isn't working properly, it changes to match your computer's timer.

How so? It counts down to the -7GMT release time. Learn some adding/subtracting, and do the math. Because I'm nice, I'll do it for you: - it's 11PM PST, 2AM EST, and 7AM GMT.

The timer is off; it's completely wrong.

In the words of the moderator Ryuuzaki:

"Just don't rely on the countdown clock... it's more of a gimmick than a functional tool."

The timer is changed based on your PC clock and has no relevance to when the server ACTUALLY launches. Furthermore, Ryuuzaki doesn't even know when the server is launching and keeps saying that he doubts it'll be at midnight server time.

Rohan did exactly the same thing.

The timer is doing its job properly if the guy in that thread is telling the truth. It's supposed to tell when the game launches... 3 hours from 8PM on August the 18th for -8GMT timezone(his own) is 11PM. It's the proper release time due to the midnight release applying to -7GMT timezones.

Edit: Ryuu is only a player mod. He's not an Admin, and has no idea what's going on(obviously).

The timer in that picture shows, in both examples, a midnight release. It's a few seconds off, but I don't see that as a huge issue...

Yes. Yes you are.

The timer, regardless of what the truth is, says when it will be midnight tuesday in your timezone that it's released. People in japan see midnight tuesday at their timezone, regardless of the fact that it's a completely different time from midnight tuesday here.

Aye... but the timer goes off of what the computer's clock says, so it will always say that there's a midnight release. If you know it's a midnight release, and know that the timer is based on the -7GMT time, you can figure out what your release will be.

Right. And not everyone lives in the same timezone. So everyone is wondering what the actual release time is, because it's impossible that it releases at midnight everywhere. Understand now?

Does it really matter exactly when? It could be sooner than we expected. It isn't wrong yet (it could end up being early). Also, it's Sunday evening where the mods are located, let them have a day off. Its probably a good thing they aren't answering so they can spend time getting the CB ready.

I agree that it's not a great timer, but the fact it's trying to get across is the game is released midnight for -7GMT. So, if you're in the eastern time zone... that's 2AM. If you're -8, like me, you're seeing 11PM.

.. It's not that hard to figure out, imo.

That's what everyone would assume. But the we ASKED if it was being released midnight server time and someone who has been granted a position (regardless of if they deserve it or are up to the job) responded that it most likely WON'T be at midnight. That is why we're asking.

You are absolutely right in implying that we shouldn't have to "figure out" when the game launches in our time zone. However, it's untrue that we can't figure it out, as you originally said. The timer is correct if you're in the PST time zone, and so, you can add/subtract times based on your time.

Examples:
GMT-8: 11PM
GMT-7(PST): 12AM
GMT-5(EST): 2AM
GMT: 7AM
GMT+8(Malaysia): 3PM

And there we have it. I apologize, for the staff, for having a confusing/**** timer.
