Character Wipe :(

Im excited that PW is in the USA now...but its only the closed beta. When Open beta starts in September they will wipe all characters:(

Are they only wiping characters once or will they do it again after open beta:confused:

I dont see the point in starting yet until they are officially done deleting our progress;)

    *sigh* this has been discused over and over..

    ALL(99%off) games with a CB get a server wipe.. welcome to reality
    OB Won't have a wipe unless something really majorly game-breaking pops up.

    The search button is large as life at the top of the forums btw.

    -_- This was answered already...Betas are to report bugs/ test the game in total/ its not to lvl and get a head of everyone , its to see what are the little or big bugs in the game so GM'S could fix it so the game is better for new players coming on when the game goes live.:)

    iRO didn't wipe after open beta, fail.
    If you're referring to any other version of RO, fail. All the other versions exept jRO/iRO suck.

    They didn't, but it's possible they wiped after I quit (I still had my OB char about a month before they put monk in)... but I doubt that very much.

    I just asked my guildies, they played iRO OP. They said iRO wiped after OB ._. good fails.

    When did they wipe, then? It certainly wasn't at the end of OB when it went pay to play.

    There was Alpha, Beta 1 and Beta 2. Take your guess. They went P2p after Beta 2 in around 2 weeks. So they wiped OB1 and went p2p after second week of OB2.

    Beta 1 and 2 were CLOSED betas... and yes, the CLOSED betas wiped, not the OPEN beta.
    Alpha came before betas, so no explaination needed there.

    I edited my post, the "Beta 1 and 2" were supposedly suppose to be OB. Beta 2 lasted 2 weeks and it went P2p WITHOUT wipe. How could OB only last 2 weeks?

    My life is larger, even if yours isn't =P

    Anyhow I have known games to wupe after open beta when stuff has messed up the game which would have ruined it for ages to come. I doubt it'll happen though hopefully. =]

    So. Let me get this straight... We're going to make new characters for closed beta this month, and have the characters erased next month? :confused: I'm not getting it.. And how come people are talking about like, "I sure hope that doesn't happen!" as if they don't know? Isn't that a little too legit for PW not to announce?

    Closed beta is for testing/tweaking the servers functionallities, to see if they perform as expected and such in something close to a real gaming environment. Also for checking if the game is exempt of bugs and other inconveniencies.

    There are also a limited amount of players who can enter in closed beta. Allowing them to keep their chars would be unfair for those who were not able to enter it.

    It's like if you are entering in a race, and they would let some racers start the race before some others.

    (We are still waiting to see any improvements or changes beign implemented. More empty promises from PWI?)

    btw dude, you should realize that this isn't a "USA" version like you says, its INTERNATIONAL, check the banner and title if you have doubts, and stop saying that.

    For all intents and purposes, it is. Other servers have billed themselves as "International". Basically, this version is the US and Canada version, and any other country that doesn't have a server can sort of hop on. By "International", they pretty much mean "The US market".

    Where : See that big "DOWNLOAD" on top of the screen?

    When : A soon as they will make it available for download. Quite likely before the closed beta launch date, unless something unexpected happens.
