Editing the .ini file...

in the PW-MY servers, GM's didn't really care if you edited the .ini file really. So now in PWI, will editing the .ini files to create more character designs be illegal and BANNED?
- I'm not saying "Invisible characters" or "Stick figures 2.0"
I'm just wondering simple things like recolors, like the fox tails and such, things that will generally not affect gameplay mechanics or PvP, but only a slight visual differences

    I seriously doubt they would ban anyone who made a reasonable edit. They can't afford to lose paying customers over something stupid.

    I don't think there should be anything wrong with editing the .ini if it's stuff that is within the limits of the character creator. What I'm talking about is copying the .ini for a char from PW-MY over to PWI. Technically, that is editing files, but what's wrong with it?

    And that's especially why they won't.

    It's an empty threat imo, it's "the official word" and "don't ask don't tell". If you use a **** edit you may well get banned, if it's minor I don't think anyone will care at all.

    Banning the use of ini's made from PW-MY would just be downright absurd, since nobody wants to get their name stolen while they jack around at character creation. They really don't want to **** off paying customers, even if they only pay indirectly...

    this topic was covered once before and i do belive the admin said any editing will get you in ytrouble... lemme double check that

    but if your lazy person ill just tell you: Xarfox (admin) stated: Modifying your game client in any way can result in action being taken against your account. Let there be no confusion about it.

    So in conclusion you can edit it at your own risk, nothing more to say here.

    Just like many games have made such ridiculous claims; they are officially unsupported but you can't prove jack and money > silly banhappy fits.

    Unless they drastically change the client, you'll see that I'm right. They could probably detect a custom edit by some script to check the database, I suppose but...
    Even then, using a non-custom ini within the game's official limits would be undetectable. Which, happens to be what the thread creator was talking about.

    How do you think people can bot on every mmo KNOWN TO MAN and not get banned ever? Seriously, reading up on this would do you some good.

    Edit: Ever hear of RF? A few people got banned for hacking, but only because they were obvious about it... the hacking continues, my LOLs continue, etc.
    The effort required to stop something as simple as ini editing is just not worth it; they'll ban the people who do dumb/hazardous edits and that's that.

    i hope they ban/deleted all obscenely outrages edits (such as stick figures, fat heads, fat ****) but allowing only minor changes i don't mind (fox tail colours as people are saying).

    also i know this isn't on-topic but does this game have armour dyes?

    yes it does have armor dyes.

    and ren if you think you are better than everyone else, then be my guest and edit your .ini file. and we shall see soon enough what will happen...

    1st this isnt RF. 2nd the admin alrdy stated that if u change ur ini file u will be dealt with enough said. Do u need more.

    No there is no armor dye. You can dye fashion tho.

    As for very minor ini edit file, they could be undetectable, true. I guess that could be unnoticed. But they will clearly take action about fat and anorexic chars.

    Lighten up, the internet is not SERIOUS BUSINESS contrary to popular belief.

    Changed the PW files in the client to see feature in game stuff that hasnt been released.

    Go to the folder for Perfect World. Go to element/userdata/character. Those files control your characters' appearances. You can open them and read them. If you edit them while your character is new, it will change the character in the game. This is okay if you do it within the limits of the game's character editor.

    Yea uhm I think the way its meant to be phrased is , "If I play a werefox with purple hair and want my tail to be purple too, is that really going to get me banned?" Cos the default WF tail is ALWAYS red and kinda boring.

    For the newbies to game this is only in human form, everyone looks identical in fox form and you wont be a red fox with purple tail then.

    So with all due respect mr admin, rather than bash the guy for getting angry at ppl that post responses without thinking(or having ever played the game) -how about a straight up answer like "if you chage ur tail colour we'll band you" OR "We'll take the matter into consideration and maybe change the char cration dialog to alow for tail colouring".

    I really hope people don't get banned for something so simple, and so good... Can an Admin confirm whether or not a tail/fur colour and adding hair(for Barbarian) is illegal? It seems silly that a person could get banned for trying to make their character look nicer like that...

    If you can you do it without without tempering with your files client side, yes. Otherwise, tempering with your files to modify your chars can get you into trouble. This was already asked and answered in a previous thread about the same subject :
