PK Gone Horribly Wrong

Someone recently posted this on the PW-MY forums. Out of respect for them, I won't give their name here. However, I thought it might provide some insight into the whole PvP/PvE issue. The following situation is a scary example of how aggression in gaming can go way too far. I hope the GMs of this version will take this to heart in trying to decide how to handle bad behavior from players in the game so that problems don't lead to this. Players, keep in mind: some people can't handle PK and just keep it fun. Trust no one.

My advice to fellow players, is to be careful of your email address. Your friendster, facebook, blog all may contain your address and some angry players may just come and pk you in real life, like what happened to me.

Leode: This is some very good advice! Do not give out your personal information as you have no idea who people are online!

EDIT: After hearing some reliable info, the original post in the PW-MY forums seems to just be a weird joke from a guy who likes to get attention. Sorry for the confusion.

    Evidently, it's real. People have posted in that thread a lot about similar situations. As for the other post, no, I am not the person who wrote that. (My name on PW-MY forums is Baructt, btw.) I just now read it for myself and felt like posting it here, considering the heated debate over PK.

    Wow people take this game that seriously O.o
    But yeah that sucks.
    I know it will never happen to me, I know Muay-Thai and I'm capable to even kill some one with just my elbows and knees xD

    But damm, getting PK'ed in real life just cause of a game, did the dudes name turn red O.o

    Well some people make the game get the best of them. I got pked many times. I would never go far as finding someones address and beat them up.
    Plus he didnt get pked.

    Well, now I don't know what to think. Someone in that thread said that the guy was talking in guild chat about that thread being a joke. I dunno. If it was just a joke, then I appologize for bringing it here. My bad.

    I just read that too, I also heard he is a hardcore PK'er, so most likely it could be a joke, then again how would those people get all his info?? why would you even mention your city,home adress,street,neighborhood in game??

    Through my eyes, the only way that would happen is if a GM, Administrator did that that can access your account info and such, but I doubt oranji, xarfox, and the panda admin would do that, xD *Dont triple bann me*

    Social engineering. Someone **** my e-mail account a year ago and managed to get some of my personal info and gave me problems in another game, but it wasn't as serious. If they have the access to your e-mail address, they can get as much info linked to it if possible.

    Some one hurting a person in real life cause of a game is STUPID, some one that isnt secured about his info and knows its possible for other people to get it, that person is also STUPID.

    Two Stupid players doesnt make a Smart one.

    Myself i took it as a joke, a way to leave the game with a last jest.

    (We are still waiting to see any improvements or changes beign implemented. More empty promises from PWI?)

    Before too easily dismissing it as a joke, or something you just can't wrap your head around, there's other precedents for this.

    Awhile back some guy was killed over an ingame sword, and further back than that there were some cases in Mexico (I think) of thugs breaking legs to extract the login info from people with high level characters in some game or other. I'd have to do some googling to track down details, this is all I remember offhand. I remember the accounts were being resold afterwards.

    I mean there's always a chance someone will post this kind of thing as total bs, but enough real incidents occur that it isn't right to assume it's bs without some other indicator.
