Closed beta is to help find bugs in the game, test server performances and such.

You do it to provide your fellow players who'll come later a better gaming experience.
Frankieraye said : "we can promise that we will work to improve all facets of community, engineering, and customer service to ensure that something like this doesn't happen again."

(We are still waiting to see any improvements or changes beign implemented. More empty promises from PWI?)

People also join closed beta for reputation as one of the reasons, and to test their character build. That way, you'll know what class to be when open beta starts. Yes, I know a lot of people here come from malaysian version and pretty much know the game well, but keep in mind that there are also people who are new to the game.

Lol true that! College starts on August 25th for me. It's okay though, it'll be easy classes so I'd have a lot of free time left! :D

Think of it as being a commercial game tester. Their job is to find bugs for retail games and for us, we beta test for nothing and in return we get a free service. We'll no doubt get rewards in the form of in game gifts so there is some incentive to help out. I know some people love games and say they would like to be game testers but I know from experience that most of them could not endure watching their work destroyed after a few months. All they want is to play games before they're released rather than enjoy making a game better.

Don't try to make the CB start earlier, or we all might regret it - there are reasons why they placed the CB start on that date, it means there are things to be done before they can launch the game.

Trying to make CB start earlier will most likely result in most of these things not being done, so that there might be more problems than expected -> bad start -> fail
PW has been endless frustration for me #2

Hey college starts for me on the 25th, too. But no easy classes for me. :D

No matter. As long as you allocate your time well between schoolwork and the game, it will be fine! That's what I do. Get all the work done early so I can play later, like after dinner or something. It's about the time I'd get so frustrated I couldn't work anymore anyhow.

Hope to see you in the CB still, Azure! Just get your work done. :p

The point of leveling up in CB is to test for bugs so they can be fixed when the game launches.

character build- this i would say is the #1 reason.

CB Isn't about leveling your characters up it's about testing it.

haha i doubt it... concidering that my school has a grand total of only 1,300 to 1,400 students, the odss of that happening are too small.but if you went to a large state school with lets say 60,000 students that i could see that happening.

The point of CB isn't leveling, it's having fun (a concept most MMO players tend to miss) and trying to find exploits (not quite applicable here since the game's been out for years in other countries). Also, you can spend 20+ hours customizing your look and not feel sorry about wasting grind time (yay for OCD).

How about this  , so you don't feel sad when the character goes "poof" make one of each class and just have fun =P , since they are right , CB is only about testing/having fun on a free server , so like i said before , just play with one of each class it might help you truly see what class you want to become and it wont make you sad when they "poof" :)

    Here's a few tips:

If you're joining my guild, you wanna be a Barbarian or a Cleric. This way, you can get 1337 gear very easily - thus being more powerful than any other class. Even after the rest of them catch up, WB and EP are very powerful...

    :p

Live as One, fight as One, win as One.

    Order through Chaos,

The point on leveling during CB other than just testing for the bugs and testing the game in general (for the new people) is pretty much take advantage of the events that will take place during it. That will probably (i hope) give nice prizes such as gold, items etc for OB.

my university was quite big, around 300,000 students in total... heck i see 1 of them everyday while i travel to work ^^

it's a good thing none of the 299,999 had a passion for game development, so i go to work alone lolz
