EA: Old "Elf Archer" abbreviation.
EP: Old "Elf Priest" abbreviation.
MP: No idea. Probably mana points, or MG which is an abbreviation in the MYEN version for Wizard. As a Guild,
Live as One, fight as One, win as One.

if the archers can fly and sime time shooting and if the mob is on the ground, can the mob hurt the archer?0
-
if it has ranged attacks, yes
if not then no. But in case it can't reach the archer it will get an insane regen of about 30% HP/sec and walk back to the spawnpoint.PW has been endless frustration for me #2

For once, attacking air-to-ground halves your damage. Also, if you hit a mob and he can't find a path to you, he will disengage and heal to full. So you 'could' kill melee mobs from the air provided you can do it in the 5-10 seconds it takes the mob to realise you're perched and disengage. But that would imply the mob would be way underlevelled or you have godly gear so you could just snipe it from the ground, before it reaches you.
In short, the flying mechanics can't be exploited (except for a certain Venomancer bug that I won't comment on).0 -
Oh, you sparked my interest with that comment. So what is this VM bug and whats so bad about it?
Sigh... well nobody got banned for it back in My-en, and this is on a public forum, so it might as well be considered 'reporting' the bug as opposed to teaching someone how to exploit. I don't encourage using it if it ends up not being fixed.
That being said, all monsters have a 'dead zone' where they consider themselves in combat, but they can't attack. That's directly above them. A werefox can hover above a (melee only) boss and send his/her flying pet downwards. The boss will consider himself in combat but be unable to hit the pet. Being in combat, he won't disengage and heal. That means other people can just snipe it from the air with no risk to themselves. This allows a werefox/venomancer to solo certain bosses or make it incredibly easy for other people to kill them (no tank, no healing, no risk).
This exploit doesn't need a pet, you can do it with a player, but getting into the deadzone can be tricky and you risk getting killed; nobody wants that which is why pets are used instead.
As an edit, I believe it's hard/impossible for a player to get in the deadzone as opposed to a pet, because players' hitboxes are much larger than pets. You need to be touching the boss (exactly above his head), but not get within a certain angle; with a player this needs extreme precision making it unpractical.

__/\___ As a diagram, the blank (non x'd) area above the head is the deadzone, 'v' is a pet; a player tends to be too large to fit in that deadzone.0 -
Hmm what's so bad about bugs... let me guess, maybe an unfair advantage for those who abuse it?PW has been endless frustration for me #2

I really hope GM's take a hard line with bugs like this. Saw someone using this in MY-EN too.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Well it's not that important, since I don't believe it works on regular mobs; at least I've never seen anyone doing it on anything other than a boss. I speculate this is because the size of the deadzone is directly proportional to the monster's size/hitbox. With regular mobs being small, you can't even get a pet to fit in the deadzone without his hitbox going into the mob's attack radius. That said, it would be interesting to test on a mob which is large/boss-sized but I don't have the My-en client anymore and cba to do it myself. So it only gets used for certain bosses, and with many having a ranged magic attack to fall back on, it's not as great an advantage as it might seem at first.0 -

Rofl dont worry junk. I don't go around abusing glitched. I play games cause they are challenging not cause you can cheat your way through it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Well, I don't really mind what you do, I said I'm not encouraging, but nor am I condemning anyone for having used it/using it in the future. I'm no white knight myself, in My-en it was considered common practice and I've been in groups exploiting this myself. Come to think of it, there's also the matter of werefox/venomancer 'pulling' in dungeons. They send a pet into a group of linked monsters and have it attack just one of them. The moment the pet lands a hit, the venomancer unsummons him, and only the attacked mob goes after him/her. With this dungeon groups can break up groups of monsters into manageable bits and remove a boss' guards. Even this could be considered exploiting, as those dungeons were obviously intended for multiple pulls, but it's not called a bug; moreso it's considered perfectly normal by most players, and with good reason, generally dungeons are hard enough as they are for the level they become available at, and it's the only thing that gets werefoxes/venomancers sought after in dungeon groups.
The venomancer is the gray area character of PW. I'm eager to see what the local GMs have to say on these matters...0 -

Anyone found or caught exploiting the hovering veno bug will be punished appropriately.
With regard to the dungeon pulling mechanic. It is in fact one of the primary factors venomancers are invited to dungeon groups.
In any case, anyone utilizing a bug that negatively affects other players, or is deemed to be against the nature of Perfect World International, will be subject to punishment.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

If you ask me, I'd say go for EC (Elf Cleric) As they're badass anyways, heal others, very needed in most quest's, a very high demand, actually quite strong also.
Plus if you have an archer wiith your wings it drains 2mp/s and they have quite a short mp pool, if you're looking for something awesome in my point of view go for Clerics...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]If only deathnote was that simple...0 -

Actually Winged Elves, unlike the other two races, do not ride flying mounts. Instead, they upgrade their wings and fly at faster speeds
What I hate about the venomancer's flying mount is that when you try to aim at something below you, your mount gets in the way. And gfoing to first person perspective don't help much, your flying pet gets in the way....Frankieraye said : "we can promise that we will work to improve all facets of community, engineering, and customer service to ensure that something like this doesn't happen again."
(We are still waiting to see any improvements or changes beign implemented. More empty promises from PWI?)0 -

But................
There are 3 regions you can fight from. Underwater/land/air.
You and your target must be in the same region, or the damage you do to each other gets cut in half.
So if you're in the air, shooting something standing on the ground, you do 50% less damage.
If you're both flying in the air, you do 0% less damage.
Etc...
And, for more fun - if you're in the air, and shooting at a mob that has no ranged attack, after a few seconds, it looses agro on you... and regenerates it HP like 30% a second, and walks away.
Wow, really? That sounds awesome. I knew I wanted to be a WE when I read the races, now I am positive. But this is good to know.~Kalintria

Additionally there are cash shop wings that can increase your speed.

Any chance Xar could tell us which wings those are, and how to obtain them?
My friend saw them in the elven introductory vid, and adores them, but still has no idea how or when she can have a set....
I'd really appreciate a reply =]0 -

I'm not sure what it's called here, but they're only obtainable through the item mall. Not sure if the item mall has it as of right now ( probably not? ) correct me if I'm wrong.
To the world, you may be one person

As time goes by, more and more cash shop items will be released. The wings posted in the screenshot on the first page of this thread will indeed eventually be available in our cash shop, among many other styles of wings.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

You are correct, currently there's only three types of cs wings, bat ones, golden ones, and butterfly ones. Thank you for the reply =DAs time goes by, more and more cash shop items will be released.
