The only name I don't like is Blademaster. This class is supposed to master every kind of melee weapon, from a fist to a spear.

I really liked the "Venomancer" name, not every WereFox was a FOX.

So you dislike "Blademaster" because Warrior has access to other weapons...

    but you like Venomancer...

Venom - mancer: a MAN who divines by, from or through the use of venom (poison).

Werefox has neither poison skills, nor men.

And Werefox described the fact that they shapeshift into a Fox to use half their skill tree, and needs not describe that they're not forced to be anthromorphic foxgirls (and can instead be anthromorphic deergirls, catgirls, bunnygirls or batgirls; however they all still shapeshift into Foxes).

MAN in this case does not refer to a man....

    -mancy
combining form meaning "divination by means of," from O.Fr. -mancie, from L.L. -mantia, from Gk. manteia "oracle, divination," from mantis "seer, prophet, soothsayer," related to mania "madness, frenzy" (see mania).

Your own copy-pasta from dictionary.com told you why you're wrong:

    "seer, prophet, soothsayer,"

And what is the word for the FEMALE variation of these professions? I believe it has an "ess" suffix attached, to indicate that they are not a MAN (Soothsayer's female equivalent is an Oracle).

Yes, that's right, a female Venomancer would be a "Venomanceress".

The man in this case is a man.

Necromanceress seems very popular on google.
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=necromanceress

    Hmm... Sorceress. Enchantress. Princess. Duchess.

I can see the point. I guess Venomanceress may well the correct term, but it sure is a mouthful... ^.^"

(Grr... The name is superficial. The class will play the same no matter what the name. Personally, I would have been happy with something easy to say, like Druid, Sorceress, Enchantress, Witch, etc. Of all the new class names, I am least keen with Venomancer.)

People calling my yao jing/werefox a venomancer may find themselves kissing dirt.
People needs to start boycotting these lame names, barbarian and venomancer is bull.

Because Homer gave necromancy to the Sorceress, and the Bible gave necromancy to the Witch.

Search dictionary.com for venomancer and you get nothing.

Venomancer can mean whatever people interpret it as.

The old name Werefox only implied that the class could change from human form to fox form.

The new name just emphasizes their casting form as well as their use of various DoTs and poison magic.

Again though, it's all just a name folks, no reason to be up in arms about it. ;)

I'm sorry, GMs, but Venomancer just isn't an attractive name. I understand its meaning perfectly fine, but that's just not good enough. Venom Mancer simply means that they are experts at using venom. If the PW-MY translation is accurate (yeah, right), then they are experts at parasite-based attacks (among other kinds) and at taming animals. Where does venom come from? Also, how is Barbarian a descriptive name for the males? It's such a vague word that could mean almost anything. And Blademaster... They use more than just blades. Why not just call them what they are: knights?

I don't really have problems with the other names, but these three just don't make sense to me. Oh, well. At least half of the names are good. *rolls eyes*

Tbh it's just a name. It's not like your character is going to do less damage because it's called a VM instead of WF. I bet if PW-MY named them VM/BB and we switched to PWI with the names WF/WB you guys would complain about the names in some way.
I like to rub it in. Enjoying the game?

LMAO! No, I'd say good riddance to the old names (along with PW-MY sux). Seriously, WereFox and WereBeast actually make sense.

In the Philippine's server, they refer to the main Venomancer's skills as "swarms", even if only one of the skill's icon feature an insect on it...

Exemple : True Stinging Swarm : Summons a poisonous insect to attack an enemy (that's the one that is called "Envenom Parasite" on the malaysian servers.)

They kept the chinese originals class names tho ( they did not dared to call them "Insectmancers" I guess ^_^)

I don't disagree, but... Doesn't that just illustrate my point even more? Are they going to simply say that the WF skills are various forms of poison, instead? Even then, that's only a small part of what a WF is.

Well, if they also refer to the fox-form skills as being poisonous in nature, then the name would fit :p

    (sorry, just teasing you here)
