Lunar Weaponry recrafting issue

I am not sure how this is supposed to work, but this is my case:
I took ☆☆Jaden Emperor's Defiance refined to +5 with 1 socket having Primeval stone Critical +1% (https://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/items/25665) to Lunar Weaponry at 675 169
If I try to recraft it using 7 Rapture stones, dialog pops up. I chose to transfer refine and not to transfer socket and stone.
Considering the 10% chance to craft it with 2 sockets this was much more viable solution than buying socket stones.
Now, even if my refine is chosen for transfer, new dialog appears saying that refine won't be transferred which is not what I have chosen.
Anyway, I still decide to proceed and another dialog appears saying that refine will be transferred and that socket and gem will be lost.
That is exactly what I asked for.
Yet, when I actually recraft weapon, only attributes get changed socket stays at 1 and that is ok if crafting another socket failed, but gem is still there and not lost.
Now, this could be just a horrible documentation and user interface issue or real problem.
Refining transfer functionality works despite weird dialog saying that refine won't be transferred. That's not much of a big deal.
Messy UI is something that I can live with, but what I really want to know before I spend another batch of Rapture crystals on recrafting is:
Is it normal that my gem gets transferred if recrafting of another socket fails or functionality to recraft socket never even happens despite option to chose between transferring socket and gem or losing it?
Thanks for any clarification that you can provide
