Where is the announcement for this Maint PWI?

Dear PWI

Did we not just have a maint yesterday? Like On the 25th of Sept, 2018? Where was the announcement for this one? AND why would you do another one when you just did one? So what did you guys mess up and are we looking at a rollback? Kindly let the players of you game know what is going on and why you are closing the servers for a 2nd maint.

The maintenance yesterday was for server upgrades for not only Tideswell on this game, but for other servers on other games as well. Those maintenances are hardware upgrades which probably requires a different team of staff to perform. They are different from regular maintenance which is most likely just doing a standard server reset and applying a patch if there is one. If there's a patch for the game this week I don't think they can just add it to one server only - all servers would've had to go down for it. Also it'd be a little unfair for Tideswell to get it a day earlier than the rest. If there's no patch, it's probably just easier for them to take all servers down during the standard maintenance time.

Oh see not I thought that the normal server maint would of been done at the same time, guess I was wrong too. Thanks for the info. By the way you are sure about what you are saying or just taking a guess? Just wondering as you are not a mod and all. And here is another thought, didn't just Tideswell only have a maint not so long ago but the other servers stayed online? Why then wouldn't they in fairness and all take down all the servers that time?

It's partially a bit of both; I research into a lot of PWI stuff as the admin of the official wiki and have studied this kind of stuff at university, though I'd still consider myself an amateur. So some of what I'm saying is guesses but makes sense with how PWE works. Previous news posts from Arc for these maintenances have also mentioned specific servers from other games, so we are not the only game to be receiving this maintenance. I haven't checked which servers are affected on other games but it looks kind of like they might just be upgrading east coast servers - that's a guess though.

It'd make not much sense for them to take down all servers at the same time yesterday, since the other servers didn't need hardware upgrades. A similar thing does happen when daylight savings maintenances occur - only some servers might go down depending on timezone changes instead of all of them. Also, if every other game had their servers down at the same time as ours to do regular maintenance, I imagine the staff would be extremely busy. I think other games do their maintenances at different days and times.

When they do regular maintenance here they have a PWCN team overlooking it from what I am aware of (Kalyst has mentioned this before), but with a hardware upgrade it might not have PWCN involved at all. If that's the case, then PWCN might not be able to overlook maintenance earlier than usual just so that all servers can have maintenance at the same time.
