Is r9 the only way to go?

I was saving for r9 for a while, but everytime I get back into the game, it seems the price have doubled. I only do light pvp and have no interest in being the absolute best, but would like to compete a little bit atleast.

My main is a sin with both full g16 and aps sets. I have a decent amount of coin saved up and can get +10 with 2 drakeflames the minute I get a decent weapon. Originally I wanted r9r3, but r9r4 looks good and you don't have to reroll, but would a good warsoul do ok or if I had good stats on a g16 well refined with the gems work as far as being somewhat competitive? Should I just be rerolling all my g16 gear until I get good stats and then work on refining them? Let's say I want to be able to tank warsong and be able to atleast do a little dmg in pvp, what would be an affordable build?

    We have a new update with new gears gone into PWCN that will take around 6+ months to get here.

    Ill be saving coin for this until then but see what other people think about this as well.

    Yea you pretty much want to be r9, not anything lower. I wouldnt recommend warsoul and I wouldnt spend coins on upgrading g16 at all. Warsoul isnt bad, but its not good enough and is just a too-costly middle step that slows your gearing progress imo.

    r9.4 weap is great but its costly. While its the better choice you can still manage with r9.3 if its impossible for you to upgrade it. I was r9.3 +10 dags on my sin for quite a long time before I finally upgraded to r9.4 (maybe 2 years almost) Just dont kill yourself with too many rerolls on r9.3. I was going with a +20 attk lv roll.

    What goes for tanking warsong you can probably do it in ur current g16 or aps gear even with bad stats/refine. You need to work on your gear somewhere else. Max your boundary level, get all skills and passives, get a card set and level it up. And a star chart.

    I would also highly recommend doing homestead daily with at the very least 4050 prosp. I personally prefer 5400 prosp.

    What goes for g17 armor I think it may be difficult for you to farm from scratch, unless you have a group or person you can do endgame instances with. You can however shortcut the armor with r9.
