The new action MMORPG is based on the original IP, Perfect World, Wanmei's flagship title. Little is know about the game at the moment. Perfect World has just officially announced more than 10 of its new self-developed titles including the remake of 2015's World Of Jade Dynasty (Named as New World of Jade Dynasty, tentative name) and the remake of Perfect World Online.
According to the reports, the game will feature a fast-paced action combat in which there will be a "QTE" feature to be used for combos that will trigger different follow-up effects, somewhat similar to the combat of Legend of the Condor Heroes: Zero.
No more information was given for the new game aside from the information above. For the old Perfect World, Perfect World Games (company) is adamant to keep the game alive. With the new Perfect World MMORPG coming soon, the old Perfect World will still be updated including engine upgrades and content releases. Few days earlier, the game's Angelica 3D engine has been updated with little visual upgrade from terrain textures, water effects, to graphics optimization.

So they decided to stop the idea of trying to upgrade the engine and just start a new game instead? ..... That doesn't bode well, especially after they made such a big thing of it and exclaimed how they would be upgrading the current game. I can say I won't be playing another version of a Perfectworld game after this one.Post edited by tek1nig on

Yes. Based from the feedback in 2016, the MAJORITY preferred the old PW as it is. Reading from the forums both in China and International, altho some liked it, most people actually became worried how the game will be changed, so much that it looked like almost nothing in resemblance to the original PW. Some wished the engine to be updated too, but not to turn it into an action MMO as shown in the demo during the 10th year anniversary of PW game. Considering that PW has been running for more than a decade now as an MMORPG, it's filled with so much memories in it - the old soundtracks, the visuals itself, the nostalgic places, the massive open-world map, the old point and click combat, flying, double jumping, etc. So I THINK, they decided to have this HUGE UPDATE as a separate game to keep all the players.
FYI: The same thing happened to Battle of the Immortals before. The expansion in 2010 was so huge for a content update, so they decided to have it released as a new game, then it became the "War of the Immortals," the sequel to the BOI.0 -
I would welcome a new game but it’s this company so it will be pay to win ofc but eh I still won’t mind if the engine isn’t trash bring it please105/105/105 Seeking ScallyMode

I'm not convinced that this will be a new game.
I quote from the original report (from 17173.com)
From the first sentence, the original chinese text for the official name of the new Perfect World is "完美世界主機版", roughly translated as "Perfect World Mastered Edition." The second sentence was referring to the old Perfect World, "完美世界國際版"
完美世界 or "Wanmei Shijie" is the chinese for "Perfect World." "Wanmei" means Perfect.
完美世界主機版 is read as "Wanmei Shijie Zuji Ban" refers to the "new version" of PW.
完美世界國際版 is read as "Wanmei Shijie Guoji Ban" - the word "Guoji" means "World" or "International", and PWI in China is referred to "Wanmei Guoji2" or "完美國際2" (Perfect World International), while the Perfect World Company is called "Wanmei Shijie" or "完美世界" (Perfect World). They changed PW's name from Wanmei Shijie to Wanmei Guoji few years ago, to not confuse the people with Perfect World game and Perfect World company. Same thing happened in PWI. Before, PWI is was called "Perfect World International", but since people were interchanging the name "Perfect World" game and the "Perfect World" company, they changed it to PWI instead.
So Wanmei Shijie Guoji or Wanmei Guoji is the Perfect World we have now (PWI). And the new game is called Wanmei Shijie Zuoji Ban as stated in the sentence from the report of the chinese media, 17173.com.

Thank you for sharing this information!
To be honest, I agree with those Chinese players. I've tried a few action MMOs and while they are fun in their own way, I also like how laid back and relaxing PWI can be thanks to the simple combat mechanics and the ability to use macros and auto-cultivation.
I personally won't commit to a new Perfect World game if one is ever released in the west, but I'd definitely play it for a few weeks just to experience the Venomancer class with up to date graphics and mechanics. I hope the new PW has height customization so I can be a little Venomancer.

Its probably going to be a super heavy cash shop based game like most others so that I cant rlly play it anyway.0

This news has already been circulating in China for at least a week now. It just happened that I only found the video on April 1st. I've been following the news since last week actually, but I couldn't share it here yet as there were no traces of leaked screenshot/footage. Then I found thi, but the original video was uploaded 6 days ago in duowan.com0 -

The "new game" is something else.
I would bet that the "The Perfect World Hosting Edition" is the mobile version we heard about being developed a year or so ago, that is only loosely based on the original.
However, I did find this....Perfect World International Edition will upgrade the engine in the new year, update copies, and continue to grow the world.
They have also changed the new brand image/logo away from "Perfect World" as they are diversifying it into the trio of main titles.0 -

As for the different version, they also mention PWI for tablet (first sneak peek from 2016 http://www.droidgamers.com/2016/09/20/tgs2016-perfect-world-shows-off-a-mobile-version-of-their-original-mmorpg-called-perfect-world-international/)

另外官方还展示了一张完美世界手游图片,但具体信息要到4月公布。

In addition, the official shows a picture of a perfect world mobile game, but the specific information will be announced in April.

Ahh, yes. The tablet/phone/mobile version. I remember when we started getting news about that and they thought it was a new version of PW2. It's not. From what I understand it's based off Perfect World, but is not the same, and will not be accessing regular game servers. It's basically it's own separate entity. Kind of like a spin-off of PW2.
Looks like they will finally be doing what they promised 3 or 4 years ago with upgrading the game engine to Angelica III though.0 -

They have also changed the new brand image/logo away from "Perfect World" as they are diversifying it into the trio of main titles.
Perfect World and Jade Dynasty is the most popular IP from Perfect World in China. The giant Perfect World has split into different companies. One of them is "Perfect World Games," supposed to focus more on its games division, because Perfect World Co., Ltd has recently shifted to Movies, and even partnered with Universal Studios. Perfect World Games is now restructuring its existing portfolio and plans to focus more on making "quality" product.
Going to the two giant IPs, Jade Dynasty and Perfect World. Jade Dynasty alone has about 3 different games under its name:
1) Jade Dynasty (the first MMORPG), Zhu Xian 3 in China. Official website: http://zhuxian.wanmei.com/
2) Jade Dynasty Mobile https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pwrd.zxintscn
3) New Jade Dynasty Mobile: http://zx.wanmei.com/
3) New World of Jade Dynasty crafted with UE4 (新诛仙世界): http://zxsj.wanmei.com/
There's so much more games under Zhu Xian, but I lost track and count of it. Some of them were published by another studios under Perfect World. This company is actually very huge.
On the other hand, Perfect World is now joining the race too, with its new mobile counterpart just released in 2016. Here's the games under the name Perfect World:
1) Perfect World (The first MMORPG), 完美国际2: http://w2i.wanmei.com/
2) Perfect World (The P2P Version), 完美世界: http://world2.wanmei.com/
3) Perfect World Mobile you just mentioned (That's under Fedeen Games, a studio under Perfect World)
4) Another Perfect World Mobile is going to be released as mentioned in the link, which will be officially revealed later this month
5) The new Perfect World on the video above.
You might've mixed the 2 Perfect World upcoming games, but read their names again. There were 3 of them actually in the article. Mentioned by name, 完美世界手游 (Mobile), 完美世界主機版 (Mastered Edition), and 完美世界國際版 (International Edition/PWI). Perfect World Games plan to expand the game (probably the "Mastered Edition") to more platforms like Xbos, Playstation, and Steam.

Gonna have to wait and see on this me thinks.
I'm not convinced it's another pw apart from the mobile version.
It seams to be conflict with info as well. I'll wait this one out tho good news on the engine. Again tho to believe.0 -

The Perfect World Mobile you're referring to is already available on both android and iOS and It's made by Fedeen Games, a small studio under Perfect World specializing in mobile games->http://newgame.17173.com/game-info-4038582.html
The new Perfect World Mobile that's yet to be announced this month is developed by a collaboration of team from Tencent Games and Perfect World. -> http://newgame.17173.com/game-info-4054019.html

I don't know, guys. I'm very, very saddened by this news. I had returned to PWI on the sole hope that the game would eventually look like the demo featured in the OP.
As soon as that new game is released domestically, I'm jumping ship to it. I just hope I can copy my characters to it.0 -
I wouldn’t mind if everyone had to restart and that version is P2P hopefully with a cheaper cash shop105/105/105 Seeking ScallyMode

I think it's a console version: xbox, ps4 and pc of course.
we see the buttons for a short time during a combo.
and a person who goes to the toilet while the public is annoyed to watch this video xD
in short, only a plagia of blade and soul with the perfect world story.0
